Admittedly, I really need to get better at splotch/stain effects. They always just end up looking undetailed and unfinished, but all details have been stomped out of them, right? It is quite the conundrum...

Anyway, here's the first QTE fail animation, along with it's associated game over screen! Each fail will have its own game over screen, but no animation like a proper game over.

Just a simple animation for the start of the QTE sequence, of QK re-armouring... because I did not want to animate the QTE four times for the different possible damage states.
When I get back from my break, I'll be working on finishing the QTE sequence, and doing the fail animations for those as well! And after that I might be able to finally get a me...
The Abigail sprite is just for demonstration purposes, but here's the entire Megalith portion of the QTE to defeat her! The three sections where it slows/pauses are the three parts where buttons need to be pressed to avoid humiliating failures. I'm sure you can guess what some of them might be given where they are!
Hoping to have this finished on Thursday, and then I'm off for three wee...

So, letting you know where we're up to with Megalith, I'm just coding in the last of her basic moves, which I should have finished tomorrow, and then I can move on to adding the simple KO animations I have for her into the game (Which I don't predict will take long at all.)
After that's done, I just need to get a gameover screen drawn up and I can possibly release ...
Admittedly not the most interesting animation in the world, but I realised I had missed this animation the first time around, so had to put it together today and code it into the game.

So I've been playing through Marvel's Spiderman recently, and a thought struck me. It might be fun to end each of the boss fights with a QTE section. Something simple, probably no more than 3 inputs, and some sort of comedic failure on each one. Like QK preparing to charge forwards, the player missing the input to dodge in time, and she just splats into Megalith's ass.

First gassing animation for Megalith! Just a small addition to the KO version of this for those with gas toggled on.
She will have more gas KOs, but they'll be in the second batch of moves I do for her.

When Megalith's in her dizzy state from the spin, you'll be able to charge her to knock her down... Just don't be beneath her when she falls.

My plan for this is to have the arms/pillar as a separate object in game which can rotate independently, so that she can swing it up or down or wherever QK is.
If you don't get hit she'll go into a dizzy state, where you can knock her down. I'll be doing both of those animations on Thursday, with any luck!
When she goes for the big windup into the pillar slam, you'll be able to take out her leg, knocking her into this stunned state where you can do extra damage!
She's fine though. Megalith's pretty bone-headed.
Three bite animations, please. And make them snappy.
Just a little attack with three variations to catch any pesky flies hovering at head height.
It probably goes without saying... but don't get stomped.
