I've been working in After Effects for years without ever really using shape layers. But they are powerful tool, especially for the flat motion graphics style so popular these days (and in the '60s). Another installment. Working on this video made me think of the days when non-interlaced video simply wasn't an option and all the hoops I used to have to jump through to remove, then RE-ADD interlace after VFX.

We're only on the 4th CD / episode and already I'm veering dangerously close to breaking the one rule I set for this series - to keep it simple. The video is almost 6 minutes long and uses a ton of animation.

The Shorties event was very nice and I ended up winning a whale tail! Here is a clip of me disparaging my competition after about a dozen other winners had gone up and gave earnest, emotional thank-yous. A great choice that is sure to age well.
