I personally love to see revamps like this, side by side and see the different improvments.
Its a decent way to study in my opinion, Its like having an under-painting to paint on, The idea and work is already there, all i have to do is study the image, play with it and figure out how to make it better!
I start by grabbing my square brush and just paint right on the image ...

Ahhh it still looks nice with Colors :3 , I went back and forth with many colors and layers. and here it is, 9 overlays colors and 2 multiply layers later( I can break it down in detail sometime if you guys are interested) I still have more to Detail and color But sooon .
