Developer log: World building & more

Hey all!

Apologies for the late post, I've simply had nothing interesting to post about since I've mostly been busy on internal changes (the boring stuff). Regardless, I will update on what has changed so far, feel free to give me any input, most of these are work in progress!

World building & changes

World editing

In order to give myself more freedom for future story lines/events, the map now has the functionality to apply changes to any tile map. This could be useful in many scenarios, to name one, a hidden room/environment could very much be revealed using this.

World map

To shape the world more and give you as the player a more overall view of the world, a global map has been added. This feature is very much work in progress, and the screenshot below is a prototype. It uses the same tech as the Chapters menu, meaning you can zoom in and drag.

My current ideas:

Developer menu

A more technical addition, but still a valid one. This menu allows for anyone (yes, also you) to execute any of the game's functions. This is mostly for myself, but can be used to more accurately determine when someone has an issue during their play through.

Keep in mind, it is not user friendly (you can very much break the game). It is kept rather simple but will help me quite a lot during development/testing.

Story progress & workflow

As I work on all of these features I've mentioned, I'm essentially always rendering out new shots. That way I use my time efficiently. In terms of story progress, Nylah's scene is taking up more time than I initially expected, but progress is being made.
