Revenge of the Sorcerer King 19

Hey Guys! So I made a whoops. When Oberon and Alessa are examining the map, it should have been the East not the west. Just wanted to note the change in case anyone gets confused.

Chapter 19

Alessa POV~~~

“Umm, I think this is going to be a problem,” I said, my voice echoing from inside Vaunn.

“Why do you have to be so puny?” Oberon asked tapping on the armor.

I was currently inside Vaunn, and what had sounded like a good idea before ran into a bump shortly after we started testing it out. While I could reach most of the armor parts, I was still lacking nearly a dozen centimeters in each direction to say I filled it. If I strained, I could get my head up into the helmet rather than in the neck, but it would be a very uncomfortable trip if I had to do that.

“It’s not my fault!” I shouted and ended up making my own ears ring.

“Alright. Hold on,” Oberon said.

A few minutes must have gone by before he placed a hand on Vaunn. I wasn’t sure what he was doing, but I felt he was examining a status screen. Finally, he chuckled then removed his hand from Vaunn. I gulped as I hoped I didn’t get inadvertently crushed.

“Vaunn. I gave you a little upgrade. Test it out,” Oberon said backing up a few paces.

I felt Vaunn nod then shudder as something happened. Suddenly, the metal around me seemed to shrink as it matched my size. I was relatively short for my age, poor nutrition, and Vaunn had quite a bit of shrinking to match me. Finally, as all the parts popped into place on my hundred and forty-nine-centimeter body.

“Wow! Did you cast a spell?” I asked as I moved my hands. Everything fit with such finesse that you would have sworn it was made just for me. I didn’t feel any hindrance to my movement whatsoever. In fact, it even felt like it would be easier to cast magic while wearing it.

“Nope. This is all Vaunn. I checked and she had over a thousand years of status points saved up. Of however long this new system has been in place. There was enough for a few changes to her, mainly the ‘Equip’ skill that lets her equip onto a person as long as both are willing,” Oberon explained.

“That’s still awesome. I totally look like a battlemage!” I said, alright maybe squealed a bit.

“Haha. You’re looking at the original battlemage, young lady,” Oberon said with what sound like a hint of smugness. I wanted to stick my tongue out at him but would have ended up licking the inside of the helmet.

“Are you going to do the same to Grodo?” I asked looking at the armor that he wore.

“No. He fits fine and I want to save his points for an emergency,” he said with a shack of his head.

With the issue with the armor taken care of, we only had a few more things to do before setting off. First of the list was changing all the other prisoners into servants. While it was a simple matter of me basically draining them dry, now that I was pretty satiated, I could gulp down several people’s worth of blood all in one go.

There were four people down in the dungeon. All of the C-rank adventurer party minus the priestess and one of the brothers. My bloodlust had overcome me during the battle and I… drained the rest. I planned on torturing the one named Kale, but that would have to wait until we returned. Of the prisoners, he seemed the most afraid of me.

I had already converted the rest of the party earlier, and he was the last one. To be honest, I was hesitant to touch him. As I changed the others, he had soiled himself and I guess in a bid to save himself the same fate, had smeared it all over his body. Luckily for me, I had several dozen undead that couldn’t smell to do my bidding. I ordered them to wash him off before bringing him to me.

“Please! Don’t! Forgive me!” Kale screamed as he was dragged toward the chair that I sat in. I thought I looked quite powerful with Vaunn on. It was weird when she whispered things to me in my ear thought. I mentally waved that away and focused on the man in front of me.

“Would you have spared me if I begged you out in the desert?” I asked leaning back in the chair and crossing my arms.

Wide eyed that man nodded his head furiously sweat running down his face. “Of course! I am not the kind of man to harm young women! It was my brother! He forced me to go along with his plan,” Kale yelled slamming his head on the ground.

I sighed placing my head in my hand. “For some reason I just can’t bring myself to believe you,” I said with a grin. “Jack. Be a dear and come here for a moment.”

The once proud adventurer came over to me with an expressionless face. He bowed once he was a meter away from me. “Yes. Mistress?” he asked in a servantile tone.

“Please remind me who it was that told you where to find me,” I said with a purr.

“This man, Mistress,” Jack replied lifelessly.

“There, you see. You’re guilty,” I said with a chuckle.

“NO!” Kale screamed.

One of the skeletons pulled Kale’s arm to me then wiped it off with a cloth. Even though Kale had been ‘washed’ he sweated enough for two men just now. I reached forward and grabbed his hand with all my strength, easily crushing it like a twig. Kale started screaming for a new reason, but I tuned it out. Pulling the vein in his arm to my mouth I bite down eagerly. It wasn’t long before it grew quiet in the dungeon.

Oberon POV~~~~

I let Alessa have her fun. I knew what she had planned even without asking her, but I felt it was better to get some of that out while we were here, then to let it burst while we were in a town. Plus, I had my own preparation that needed to be done.

“Khaar. You and your siblings protected this place for centuries. I hope that you can continue to do so on your own for a few weeks. In order to help you, I’m going to use some of your points to upgrade you,” I said waving the golem over. When I got a nod, I cracked my knuckles, which sounded a lot more sinister when your hand is only bone. I placed my hand on the golem and brought up his status. Because he belonged to the Fortress Core, he belonged to me.

Name: Khaar

Age: 1,098

Race: Mobil War System (Ancient)(Soul)

Level: 456 (Drops to 139 outside of Fortress Network)

Mana: 4679/9999 (Can not recharge outside of the Network)

[Amplify Armor: Master] [Network: Master] [Form Weapon: Master] [Barrage: Master]

[Mana Shield: Master] [Resist Magic: Master] [Self-Repair: Master]…

Upgrade Points: 1450

Boons: A Thousand Years

I whistled when I saw his stats. Vaunn and Grodo were much the same but Khaar had nearly a hundred levels on Vaunn. At least this was the first time I was really pleased with the new system. Before when you wanted to upgrade a Golem, you usually had to break them down then perform a shit ton of rituals to basically recreated them. In fact, most of the time it was easier to just start from scratch.

Clicking on the upgrade points, a list a kilometer long appeared. It had everything from skills to physical improvements. I could make Khaar three meters taller or increase his mass by tenfold. I could even give him the ability to cast magic with enough points.

I needed a steward for when I was gone. I never did like sitting in the rear to watch my armies do all the fighting. No, I was right there in the front lines. Shoulder to shoulder with the men. That was one thing I didn’t plan to change.

Looking through the list of abilities and skills, I finally found what I was looking for. Leadership. It would allow him to lead in my place within the limits I set for him. Or at least that was the sense I was getting when I hovered my hand over the skill. The knowledge was like a vague fog in the back of my head.

It was five hundred points, so I went ahead and bought it. Even if it only worked in the Network, I did plan on rebuild the Golem army in the future. It wouldn’t hurt to get an actual Golem commander ready before that time.

“How do you feel, Khaar?” I asked.

“Strange. Ideas unlike I have ever thought suddenly flooded into my head,” Khaar said far more articulately then the last time he talked.

“That’s good. Are you ready to receive your orders?” I asked.

Khaar snapped to attention. “Yes, Master.”

“Our timeline is vague at best. I need you to protect the city from monsters and any… wayward adventurers that might happen this way. As the mana accumulates every day, I want you to go down the list and add everything that is available. Skip upgrades for now. Expand to the West for now, aiming for the ocean.”

I spent the next hour going over everything I could think about. While I didn’t want to restrict him too much, I also didn’t want him to run into something unexpected and freeze. It would be best to just put everything I could think of out and hope for the best.

“Make sure you help him in case something serious happens,” I said looking at Zriq.

“As the Master commands,” Zriq said with an eloquent bow.

I nodded then waved from Grodo to follow me as I went to find Alessa. It was time for us to go.
