Revenge of the Sorcerer King 16

Hey Everyone! Hows the weekend going?

Chapter 16

Oberon POV

It took a few hours for everyone to be changed back to a fairy. Now the skies were filled with them as the ones that couldn’t fly practiced while the ones that could helped them. Rainbows formed from the light passing through their wings, which made me chuckle. Fairies were one of the most powerful ‘natural’ races in the world. That was why they were being hunted.

The other races always fear what is different than themselves. Something that could fly, was often more beautiful, and possessed a greater affinity with magic than almost all the races combined, of course they would be hunted to near extinction. After a thousand years I wondered how much about the fairy race was still remembered.

“They’re so beautiful!” Alessa said as she watched the fairies fly around.

“You have no idea how many cities saw that right before they were leveled,” I laughed at the irony of it.

“What do you mean?” Alessa asked confused.

“The fairy race was hunted. This is a fact. But it was only because they are so powerful as a race. If they reproduced faster, this world might be very different,” I said.

“I only know about the imps that did things around the towns. They weren’t really that powerful,” Alessa said tilting her head.

“Because of this,” I said tapping the core embedded in me. “Keeps them under control.”

“Then they probably want to be freed,” Alessa said.

“Probably, but nothing we can do about it,” I said with a shrug.

The Fairy race made the deal with a God long ago. I had no way of knowing the details of their binding or how it even came about with out speaking to the one responsible or the God involved. Even back when I was in power, that was information I was unable to obtain. Saiteth might know but one thing I remember clearly from when I was alive. Never make a deal with a Deity unless you possessed no other way forward.

We watched the fairies enjoy themselves for a while before we went back into the castle. The fairies were beautiful making it hard to pull your eyes away from them. They left to start working on their new nest allowing us to escape the entrancement. The eeriness of their beauty faded as the light from the sun sank below the horizon.

“Ready to interrogate our guests?” I asked with a bony smile.

Alessa’s eye glowed red. “I am looking forward to hurting the ones that came after me. The two brothers especially. They looked at me with…” Alessa said trailing off with a shudder of disgust.

I grabbed her shoulder. “Animals need to be culled,” I said, the green light from my eyes growing darker.

Her face was already serious but grew more so. She nodded then followed me into the castle. With the increase in population, the Fortress core was gaining more mana than before allowing it to repair the castle almost at a noticeable rate. Glancing around, I figured another two or three weeks and the castle would be back to its pristine state that I vaguely remembered.

We made our way to the dungeon. It was a priority section of the castle and was repaired shortly after the throne room and other parts of the castle. There were runes in places that dampened magic, and the cells were reinforced against the more physical warriors. I waged a lot of wars trying to unite the races and prisoners of war were the prime way to stop certain countries from retaliating. Thankfully, only a few countries forced me to use this method but still used it.

Skeletons and zombies patrolled the corridor along the cells. The miasma generated from them just being present would be enough to make many humans refuse to go in. The adventurer party sat huddled in a corner divided amongst several cells. No reason to give them a chance to work together.

I walked up the nearest cell which housed who I figured was the leader. He was obnoxious the entire time I watched him through my scry spells. Looking at the shadow of the man sitting in the cell, I could not even muster the will to laugh at his situation. He was curled into a ball and stared at a random spot on the wall.

“Where’s all the energy from yesterday?” I asked tapping my bony finger on the cell bars.

He jumped when he heard me then turned to face me. I shook my head when I saw that he had soiled himself, thankful that I didn’t possess the sense of smell anymore. He scurried back against the wall to get as far from me as possible.

“Demon!” He shouted when he saw me.

“No, undead. Learn your designations,” I said leaning forward a bit.

“Whatever you are! You won’t get away with this! If we don’t report back to the guild in a week, they’ll send someone even more powerful out here!” The man screamed jumping forward to grab the bars.

I shot my hand forward and grabbed his, my bone fingers piercing through the back of his hand through the palm. He screamed, his head flinging back but unable to move the rest of his body in fear of ripping his hand apart. Blood dripped to the ground forming a puddle. The scent of blood filled the air, and Alessa got noticeably excited.

“So, tell me. Who should I expect?” I asked.

“Fool! Like I would tell you!” the man shouted through his pain.

“Normally I would commend you for your bravery. I don’t know how many men back when I led the forces of the living sacrificed themselves to protect their brothers and sisters. Now that I am on the other side of the equation, I find it quite annoying,” I nodded then pulled my hand back, blood coating it.

The man grunted as he jerked his hand back to wrap it in a cloth. I suddenly felt something grab my hand. Turning, I saw Alessa staring daggers at my hand as she tried to pull it towards her mouth.

“That is a good idea,” I said breaking her out of her trance.

“Good idea?” She asked slightly slurred.

“If I remember correctly Pureblood vampires can turn mortals into ghouls,” I said as I pulled a cloth from the table that was outside the cell. I wiped the blood off, which made Alessa have a mortified expression.

“How do I do that?” She asked licking her lips.

“Hell if I know,” I said with a shrug. “Just bite him for now and see what happens. Make sure you don’t drain him.”

“I’m not going to sit around and let her bite me!” The man yelled as he looked around quickly for what I assumed was a weapon.

I snapped my fingers and two of the skeleton guards rushed into the cell to hold the man down. He shouted obscenities as he fought but was quickly overpowered by the skeletons. They were quite rough with him, their disgust for the living coming through, earning him a few wounds. Alessa was breathing heavily next to me as several of the wounds were bleeding freely.

“If you can’t handle it there are a few more to practice on,” I said, my eyes burning brightly for a moment.

She was already past the point of listening to me. She lurched forward and sank her teeth into the man’s neck. Only a single drop of blood managed to escape from her mouth as she pulled deeply. The man’s screams of pain soon morphed into moans of pleasure and he completely stopped resisting.

Alessa took one last gulp before she pulled away. The man slumped to the ground completely drained. If it wasn’t for my life sight, I would have thought the man dead. Alessa stood there for a moment her arms wrapped around herself in what I assumed must be pleasure.

“I see you managed to stop,” I said after letting her enjoy herself for a moment.

“It was hard but I feed a lot last night, so it was easier so control,” Alessa replied with a grin.

“So, is he yours now?” I asked kicking the man lightly.

She made a noise of confirmation then explained, “the world gave me an option to change him into several different things. I could make other mortals into vampires by draining them of blood then giving them some of mine. A ghoul I just have to drain him nearly dry.”

“Interesting. I remembered the vampire one from the old days but how the system explains it to you is fascinating,” I said.

“If you say so. I have always lived with it,” Alessa said with a shrug.

I laughed and said, “fair enough.”

Alessa bent over the man and slapped him across the face. “Wake up for your Mistress!”

The man’s eye opened instantly. He had brown eyes before but now they were pink. I found it funny that all her magics were turning pink. All the tension was gone from before and he stood up with unnatural speed.

“Yes, Mistress!” He said in a low pitch.

Alessa POV~~~~

After I changed the man that we found was named Jack. The rest were quick to give us answers. Of course, I planned to change them eventually but for now I didn’t want to tax myself. Looking at my status, my power had increased a lot after only a few days.

When I changed Jack, a new skill appeared. Since it said four, I knew it was including some of the undead I took control over. Neither Oberon or I were sure why it did not include all the undead under my control. To find out we would have to ask the Goddess that controlled the world system was what Oberon said after examining it.

I was leaving Jack in the dungeon for now. I felt it was safer until I truly understood what I was doing with my new powers. Still the… rush I got when I was draining Jack’s blood was… indescribable. It took all my control to stop myself from going down to the dungeons to drain another of the prisoners.

Stretching out on my bed I marveled out how lithe my body was now. My mother once said my beauty was enough to make men mad in their pursuit of me. Of course, I was too young to understand her at the time. But looking at my new body I could understand as even I found it hard to take my eyes off myself.

“Pretty,” a voice said from the doorway.

“Thank you Vaunn. You’re pretty yourself,” I said back to her.

The golem had changed in the week since the castle had rinse from the depths. Her rusted metal body now sparkled and the mithril lines inside glowed and thrummed with mana. She was no longer slow or ungainly when she moved. Sometimes I felt she moved better than a normal person.

“Thank you,” Vaunn said with her head held high.

I smiled. “Want to go for a walk? The night is beautiful,” I asked sliding out of bed.

“You lead. I protect,” Vaunn said with a fist to her chest.

“I couldn’t feel any safer with you by my side,” I said moving though the doorway, the golem silently following in behind me.
