The King's Revenge: Curse of the Sorcerer King

This was something I worked on before Dungeon Robotics and I wanted it to get a little attention

Prologue

My chest hurt, of course, that is usually the case when there is a 2 meter long sword stabbed through it just below the heart. I looked up from the wound to the one that caused it. Lucifer, the King of the Angel race and one of my, scratch that, was one of my most trusted advisers.

“Why? Lucifer.” I asked through the pain, not letting it show on my face.

“Well... because we’re better than you of course. All Angel kind are better, we came first, we are the closest to the gods.” He answered in what most people would consider a matter of fact tone.

I mentally laughed at this comment. We had worked for nearly two decades to unite all the races across three continents, and I now find that my own advisor was a supremacist the whole time. A thought in the back of my mind wondered how I could have missed such a fact.

“Funny, I’ve meet a few gods and they seem to treat you guys as a mistake, I see why now.” I said trying to get a rise out of him, it seemed to work as he lost his smile and balled his fists.

“And that is why you must die, I never understood why the gods felt we, the purest of the races, were not worthy to live amongst them,” he growled in reply.

I felt the amount of mana I had managed to gather while he was gloating and it was almost enough. But before I made my final move I had one last thing I needed to do.

“Lilith, I trust you're not in on this little plot.” I said looking over to the woman sitting next to me, while she wasn’t wounded, silver chains were holding her down. Which made sense since she was the Queen of the Demon races, or rather she always acted more like their mother.

“No, my king. This is the first I have heard of this little plot,” she said with a voice that sounded like honey to me.

“Of course, I’ve tried to nonchalantly bring her over to my side but she was too powerful.” Lucifer said gesturing to the people behind him, their eyes were glowing with a subtle purple light. “And I can’t afford to have all the demon races lose their minds if I were to kill her so I’ll be holding her hostage to keep them in line.” he started laughing like he was the smartest person alive.

I felt the mana again, I finally had enough. “Well, as I’m about to die anyways so I’m going to speed up the process, no offense but I just realized that I hate your stories.”

Lucifer looked at me for a moment, before he paled and tried to rush towards me. I slammed my sword into the ground stabbing the blade into the city crystal that was embedded there and my voice took an ethereal tone.

Cursed be the land that the Grand Castle stands

Cursed be all who mean harm to the King of the World

Feel the pain and suffering of indulging in your Sin

Let the pain of what rules you races take root and curse the land

Lucifer screamed in pain as his six wings all turned black and red chains seemed to flow along his limbs leaving brands where they passed. The people behind him also had things change about them. From their brands the Angels gained Pride, always looking down on the other races. The Elves gained Sloth, aging at a tenth of the pace of the other races but rarely moving for others or even themselves. The Dwarves gained Greed, seeking all that shined and glittered in the world. The Orcs gained Wrath, their bloodlust near unstoppable. The Treant/Druids gained Sorrow, never leaving their forests, rarely trusting anyone. The demons gained Lust, a twisted version of the love that Lilith had for her children. The Dragons gained Gluttony, hungry no matter how much they hoarded.

King Oberon looked at what the change he had just wrought across the world. The races of course had free will and could choose to resist the new temptations these “Sins” would cause them but they would always hear the call throughout their whole lives. He had little control over the spell he just used, as what was meant to be a curse for everyone in the room had combined with the city crystal that he had stabbed and used the dimensional magic associated in it, it had caused an unknown ripple  effect to effect the whole realm.

King Oberon DarkPheonix, King of the World, The Unitor of Races, and many more titles, gained one more that day, the World’s Curse. Of course Lucifer, went down as the cause, but that’s a story for another time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~500 years later~~~~~~~~~~
Two men were traveling through a desert heading for the coast. They were filthy and people would say they could smell them a 100 meters away.
“Bro, I can’t believe you managed to get a city crystal!” the young man looked at his older brother in admiration.
“It was easy, he had a daughter, one poke with my knife and he was willing to hand me anything I wanted.” the man said smugly.
“Can I see it?” the younger man asked.
“Sure just don’t drop it, their supposed to be unbreakable but I don’t want to test our luck.” he replied handing over the crystal.
The young man rubbed the surface, they rarely got to handle gems and he was always fascinated by the texture and such. He held it up to the sun to watch the light reflect through it. Both the men failed to notice the shadow moving in the sky. All of a sudden they heard a cry and the shadow shot towards the crystal and snatched it out of the young man's hand before either could react. It shot straight up and was gone before they could even react.
“Fucking Idiot! Fucking Hell!” The older brother started to curse and yell nonstop periodically reaching over to hit his younger brother.
The bird took the crystal back to its nest where it tapped it with its beak, when it failed to break it into smaller pieces, it put it in its stash. Several generations of birds and more storms than could rightfully be counted later it fell to the sand below and slowly sank until one day it fell into the hand of a skeleton that was sitting on a throne. The skeleton’s hand started to grip the crystal, as green light seemed to fill its eyes.
