Interim: GravPlate Failure

This is a fun interim piece set between Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 of Diplomatic Claim! Is it canon or non-canon? We may never know~ ;D

GravPlates are certainly not the most common piece of technology, being sourced originally from Multi-Race Equipment, before their widespread demand caused third party creation. Despite being seen often and built by various venders, the physics of the technology behind it is still poorly understood by most races, a handover from the fact that Multi-Race Equipment is a Dragon Empire sourced company. You'd think that one needs only to disassemble a plate for it to be understood, but as it turns out when taken apart the plates often suffer various strange failures, such as the equivalent of a clocks spring spooling out, except the "spring" is somehow larger then the spool and only partially detectable.

In any case outside of power failures when GravPlates fail, a rarity in itself, usually the best option is to go to the nearest service station and have them replaced. The headache of trying to fiddle with them is just not worth the effort.

That being said it looks like the crew of the HMS FIF are making the most of their little zero-gravity problem, enjoying things in the way Space Springhares find most natural: Free floating!
