I think it was around the time I turned 30 I stopped mentioning my age online. Existing within such a youth-obsessed culture, I think I became embarrassed about it? If someone looked me up online they could easily figure it out, but I wanted it to be a little ambiguous. Also maybe add a dash of feeling like I lost most of my early 30s to the beginning years of the pandemic? Lost a few years to that memory hole.
Anyway, 37 is still quite young and I'm glad I've gotten to exist as a version of myself more in line with my gender for the past 9+ years. Looking forward to so many more.
Despite the ongoing political strife in this country and in my city, I managed to have a nice lil birthday. I'd been completely crashed out due to a breakup last year and I'm so grateful for how far I've come since then. I love my friends.
Also! Saw a fantastic backyard queer/trans folk punk show. I know it says it in the comic, but I'm so happy to know these types of all-ages community spaces can exist in LA of all places. I look forward to finding more of them. :)
See y'all next week!
