Dec 2022 Book Update + 3RD WAVE Multi-samples

Dear WaveShapers!

Attached is the book update for December 2022 (as usual, search for the string DEC2022 to jump from update to update), and the 3RD WAVE multi-samples promised yesterday.

The biggest book update this month is a new appendix dedicated to using MPC Beats as a multi-sample player because that's how I plan to package multi-samples going forward.

I’ve decided to "standardize" on the MPC Keygroup format when sharing instruments with you going forward for a few reasons:

There’s just one problem… the MPC software is a bit overwhelming when you first open it up, hence the new Appendix B.

The zip files also include example projects with multiple patches - note that MPC Beats only supports projects with up to 8 tracks, so don't worry about the error message if you don't own the full MPC software, the appendix shows you how to start a new project and load the multi-samples you want.

Here's everything that's new in the book:

Patreon only allows attachments up to 199MB - I tried to work around this by attaching multiple zip files here - hopefully this email makes it through.

Aside from that, a mega thanks for being here this year and wishing you a fantastic 2023!

Glad you liked them! A filter with velocity modulation could be a simple way to get a low pass gate style effect with these

I had no problem previewing the samples, using the Patreon App on my iPad. I’m from the Tape Music era and was surprised (although I shouldn’t have been) that all of the samples were the same duration. Well, of course; that’s point of this generation of “recorders”. I also found the Settings files interesting. Sampling on “C” and “Gb” are good choices, remembering the old 2Mb+ Multi-Sampled Pianos, that still sounded “wrong”. These are quite clear. I wonder how a (Buchla, etc.) Low-pass Gate would work, to add a velocity curve to samples?
