20+ Matrix Synth Setup Ideas // Track download

Hi there!

This video is an attempt to solve the very first-world problem of creating and managing a setup where you have slightly too much gear for just making a few connections and getting  going.

In a perfect world, the idea is to hook audio and MIDI up to a central matrix, where you can easily create dynamic and custom chains of instruments based on what you're in the mood to use. More details in the video, based on patch bays, Erica Synths' Matrix Mixer and MRCC by Conductive Labs.

If you're on the WaveShaper tier - this is an excellent companion to the May book update as it walks through many of the ideas mentioned there.

I've attached a download of the intro/outro track to this post - I hope this helps with your synth setup adventures!

All my best,

Ziv (making content for people who refuse to go to GAS rehab, on a youtube channel called "Loopop"...)

thanks for the MRCC tip! I've been looking for something exactly like that. there's also pedal power supplies for 9-12V that support more milliamps, some pedalboard manufacturers specialize in them, as many guitar players have tons of pedals and switchers. just check any audio hardware vendor or amazon. some decent pedal multi power supplies cost less than 50EU/USD.

Thanks and nicely built!

So ever since I started building my studio, by investing in a multichannel SSL Madi converter system, I've pondered about how to achieve high quality multitracking and studio cohesiveness/ease of use. Realizing the day when I can blow 200k on a multichannel API mixer or similar would probably never arise, I took fate by the horns and learned how to solder. A few years later, after tons of practicing (and new equipment!) I built the centerpiece of my studio, based on a API-style summing mixer which I modified to my needs (post fader direct outputs, that realizes multitrack recording through a mixer). You can see it here: https://proaudiodesignforum.com/forum/php/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1237 Anyhoo long story short and the odyssey goes on, so I upped my DIY game and designed an AUX expander to run inline to the mixer: https://groupdiy.com/threads/uc1608-8-buss-aux-expander-distribution-mixer-based-on-jlm-and-capi.80127/#post-1037995 Not totally done yet, but the goal of having a true multitrack studio (of uncompromising quality) is ever closer! Keep up the cool videos, peace from Norway <3
