OXI ONE Sequencer Review + outro download

Hi there!

OXI Instruments is launching their crowdfunding campaign for their OXI One Sequencer tomorrow and yours truly has been playing with the prototype for the past couple of weeks.

Bottom line? It needs some workflow refinements, but it's kind of like what would happen if NDLR and Deluge had a baby.

More in the video, and attached is the intro/outro track download for those interested.

All my best,

Ziv (exploring sequencer babies on youtube as Loopop...)

PS Usual crowdfunding disclaimer: these things are risky!

Comments

I don't think so - it's different hands-on takes compared to mousing around a piano-roll like all daws - I quite enjoy how each brings different things out of me (not all do... I think T-1, NDLR and this in particular are the "creative" ones)

Feels like every year there's a new sequencer that's even more feature-laden and more expensive coming out. Just in the past few years, we've had NDLR, Hermod/Pyramid, SQ64, T-1, Ground Control, Launchpad Pro mk3, Theoryboard... Not to mention the workstation, groovebox-type, and other "hybrid"/"strange" (e.g. Medusa) sequencers. It does feel like some of them, like this Oxi One, are becoming quite unwieldy in terms of features, and with a staggering price tag to reflect it. What's your thoughts on this? Are we trading off too much playability/straightforwardness and cost for trying to stuff as much of a DAW's sequencer into a box as we can?

Interesting!

Also, if they could leverage the grid as pixels to display messages (scrolling left to right for long text) to help navigate through the menu, that would be a great way to overcome the tiny screen and poor placement of the encoders.
