Hi there!
NOTE: If you've supported the channel in excess of $7 feel free to send me a personal message and I'll email you a download link for the album!
Mastering is an art - but can AI help? I decided to throw caution to the wind and master an album myself - "myself" being a slight exaggeration since I mostly used "artificial intelligence" based tools.
I've heard a lot about Soothe 2 from Oeksound, Gullfoss by SoundTheory and Intensity by Zynaptiq - and rather than just test them without a particular commitment, I decided to see which I would actually use to release an album with, and along the way obviously compare the three.
Since all the tracks on the album are jams/tracks from my videos - meaning live performances which are complete mixes created on the fly, some compression can almost always make things more cohesive. Tegeler Audio reached out a while back and sent over Magnetismus 2 at a very low cost - an analog compressor and magnetic distortion unit - so I explore that here too while I'm at it. Obviously, plug-in compressors and saturators can also do a great job, but it was fun to explore this and made the video more visually appealing I hope.
You've already received these tracks (though unmastered) as attachments to previous posts - I've released the album for a couple of weeks as a Bandcamp exclusive and will be released to streaming services in a few weeks.
Thanks for listening!
