Hi!
SYNTRX from Erica Synths is a different kind of synth, as was the synth from which it takes its inspiration - the EMS Synthi AKS.
Instead of patch cables or a mod matrix in a hidden menu, it uses a 16x16 digitally controlled patch matrix - similar to the MatrixBrute only SYNTRX is focused on audio rate modulation rather than envelopes and LFOs.
Not that one is better than the other, just a different mindset.
But that's not where the differences between modern-day synths end. It uses a diode-based ladder filter instead of a transistor-based one, which gives it a distinctly different character. Same for its waveshapers - quite different from what we're used to seeing in other synths.
Its emhphasis on ring modulation puts a spotlight on that form of synthesis, and its speakers and reverb complete the "otherworldly" feel of this synth.
SYNTRX isn't cheap (2500 euros), so I've created patreon exclusive multisample instruments out of a few patches I made for it - some shown in the video, and some edited out to save time, but just as compelling. These also have an MPC group file along with them if that's useful for you, but you should be able to load up the raw files into any multisample player.
Obviously samples are just a snippet frozen in time, but it will let you play a bit with the sounds of this synths for less than 2,500 euros :)
All my best,
Ziv (feeding reverb back into an oscillator for some pretty wild jungle sounds on youtube as "Loopop")
