20 Brian Eno style generative ideas + exclusive content

Hello!

Here it is finally ;)

“Generative Music” is a term coined by Brian Eno to describe music that is always different and changing, generated by a system but led by creative guidelines, rather than typical music which follows a set of predetermined notes intended to be played the same way every time.

This video includes 20 ideas and even more tools for creating generative music inspired by Brian Eno's generative work. It's focused on ideas rather than one platform, and covers eurorack, iOS, VCV and Ableton tools for creating generative and probability based music.

I teased this previously so not much more to say except that all of these ideas plus more will be in the April update to the book coming very soon.

Exclusive Patreon downloads are an mp3 with 30 minutes of the patch shown in the video (there's a full walkthrough at the end) as well as the three VCV patches contributed by my VCV guru Omri Cohen around VCV modules he recommends checking out.

All my best,

Ziv (promising to try and make shorter videos on youtube as "Loopop")

Thanks! Did you see that there are more in this series?

this is my favourite video so far!

Thanks so much! Those videos are of the ones I'm most proud of. Check out my two quadraphonic videos as well for similar ideas. I plan to continue the series - it's just that these videos take a while to make as I refine both the topic and the way to present it in my head. Spoiler: next up is an Olafur Arnalds inspired episode. If you have other artists whose work/techniques you'd like me to explore, please let me know!

I like all of your content. I particularly like this generative video and also the Steve Reich/William Basinski video. Thank you for reaching out to Omri Cohen and for sharing the VCV patches. Those patches are fun to play with. I enjoy VCV because it's fun to experiment with and it's inexpensive, free unless buying extras, compared to eurorack.
