March book update is here!
Added 2019-03-28 12:20:50 +0000 UTCHi there!
First, I'd like to say welcome and a huge thanks the all the new WaveShapers, and an even bigger one to those that are already here that keep supporting month after month - I'm blown away by your ongoing support.
$4 may seem like a small amount on its own (and some give more, thanks for that!) but it's starting to add up which means I can afford to invest back in better music and filmmaking gear, fund travel to shows and events, and more importantly, continue not look for "brand" sponsors to fund all this. By the way, even gear that gets sent to me at a discount or no cost often ends up costing me due to customs and import fees.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that my loyalty is to you, and your support (and to a lesser degree youtube ad revenue) is what makes this channel possible long term.
Anyway... here it is! The March update to Loopop's In-Complete Book of Electronic Music Ideas, Tips and Tricks...
Here's a summary of what's new:
- New section about MIDI 5 PIN vs TRS connectors, with a couple of TRS MIDI tricks (Pages 32-33) - I have quite an April planned, so if your instrument has TRS MIDI inputs or outputs - check this out, there likely won't be a video about this any time soon.
- New section about Bridging USB and MIDI (Pages 34-35)
- Added Sequencing and Modulating CV with a Sampler to the sampling tips and tricks section (Pages 77-79)
- Quick multilayering trick added to the "MIDI hacks" section (Page 83, tip #3) - I've not yet made a video about this either, and it's a nice little trick.
- Referenced the Steve Reich/William Basisnki clip in the Live Looping section (page 88). If you read last month's update you knew about this trick even before my clip was made. I just had to make a video about it after writing that section and it was really well received with quite a few people posting really nice ambient music created with this trick. I've reposted a few of those on my Instagram.
- Since the Patreon exclusive downloads are starting to add up, I added a new appendix referencing all the Patreon downloads in one easy to find place (Appendix A)
Thanks again,
Ziv

there's one channel that I'd like to watch, but the "HAR HAR HAR!" fake laughing commentary adds nothing and distracts and eventually annoys. The Loop is by far the most informative and measured youtube synth reviewer out there and I'm happy to be a patron.
