Hyve Review + 2 Patreon Exclusive downloads

Hi!

Skot Wiedmann's Hyve Synth approaches the concept of what a synth is in a completely original, creative and ingenious way.

It has 60 oscillators (not a typo) -  12 core oscillators and 4 sub-oscillators for each, organized in two layouts of close to 5 octaves each (piano style and isomorphic hexagonal), all the size of two decks of cards.

Hyve Synth also has stereo touch - in the video I show how each of the right and left channels can be passed through different effects chains for increased expressive control. There's no magic though - the small size does mean some compromises, which I discuss in the video.

The result is a synth that feels and sounds very organic (sort of like an accordion or harmonica).

Attached to this video as Patreon exclusive downloads are two video files of the jams in the video.

All my best,

Ziv (playing isomorphically on YouTube as "Loopop"...)

Thanks! Gonna give that a shot and see if it will work better. Ears just didn’t do it the way I thought so hopefully this will work. Thanks again, love your vids 👌🏼

Damn that's an excellent question... it's off camera so I can't be sure, but as far as I recall, it's a direct connection. My guess is that I used a stereo TRS splitter and then plugged the two cables in to QPAS

Thanks for the quick response. Yeah, i was using ears to do the line-> mod level, but it wasn’t sounding great. I suspect it’s b/c of the non-stereo aspect of it. I see the black stereo out of hyve, and then two yellow stereo ins to QPAS. Was there anything in between?
