Hello!
Last video for the year! This time I'm taking a look at Make Noise's 0-Coast - and there's a lot to learn from this little synth.
First thing, it sounds different.
Second, it's original. 0-Coast takes care of the "problem" of instinctively reaching for the filter knob as tool for timbral variation by not having one (well, technically there is a 6db/octave lowpass filter in the VCA... but it's very subtle).
Its two main tools for adding timbral interest are the "overtone" and "multiply" circuits, as well as a variety of other patching options - so... third thing is, it's highly patchable.
With a little bit of hacking, in this video I show how to play two and even three additional notes - both as subharmonics or independent timbres, activate a hidden slew limiter and envelope follower, and much more, including an R2D2 patch...
Many of these tips are applicable to other synths as well - I'll be including these, and more I just didn't have time to fit in - in the January update to the ebook.
Aside from that, I've decided to go to NAMM this year - obviously your support on Patreon is a big part of what makes that possible - so if there's anything you want me to check out for you or think it would be interesting that I cover, please let me know.
Have a great 2019!!
All my best,
Ziv (going 0-coastal on YouTube as "Loopop"...)
