Hi there!
Here's my in depth and full tutorial for Model:Cycles - Elektron's new entry into the relatively lower priced groovebox market.
With this, Elektron take an even bigger step towards simplifying FM synthesis, with 6 different machines, each with 4 macro controllers based around FM sound design of kicks, snares, cymbals/hats and toms - alongside more traditional tone and chord machines.
It's based on the same physical design of Model:Samples - with Elektron's famous sequencer built in.
Unlike the their higher end Digitone, the focus here is on percussive sounds and sequencing - so if you're interested in melodic or harmonic sequencing, while it's doable, the interface needs a few more refinements which I mention in the video.
Regardless of your interest in this particular instrument, if you're curious about applying FM synthesis to percussive / drum-like sounds - I think you'll find this very interesting.
All my best,
Ziv (hoping my FM cymbals don't send offensive messages to aliens on YouTube as Loopop...)
