Korg's new analog drive pedal: guitar and synth sound test

Hi!

I know I said no content was likely from NAMM, but it seems like no one checked out how this pedal sounds, so this drove me to explore it!

OD-S is based on Korg's Nutube technology (the same drive that's in NuBass). I built it in one of the workshops in their booth and ran a test drive on Microfreak in my hotel room and with a guitar courtesy of Static - on their guitar demo team.

That's it for now!

All my best,

Ziv (testing drive puns on youtube as "Loopop"...)

Indeed don't I wish they were real! Would sure make the editing much quicker...

Ah, so you add those to the video later? I've been looking at those (not too closely) thinking "man, I need to get a couple of those little bezel-less displays"....

hi - I use scopes by a company called Melda - they have free versions with very few limitations

wanted to ask, what’s are oscillator and spectrogram plug-ins you use in this video?

ha I hope not... trying to avoid it unless I have a Moog engineer to clean up my mess nearby

Does this mean we all have to buy better spectacles and eventually get dirty with solder.... Heaven's to Betsy!!! :)

I agree with you that there's a lot of competition - it remains to be seen how and whether this will evolve into more interesting kit / expansion options (like the new Arduino expansion for the NTS-1)

It sounds good but the world is full of distortion pedals, for such a low end and low margin product overall I question it's raison d'etre - I'd prefer Korg to do something better with their R&D engineering talent than give us this, maybe a better sequencer and more polyphony on their mid range products perhaps.
