As someone who has read Lasch and TLP, you should know better: the narcissist is the Dawn lady. She's the one demanding that others confirm the identity she has constructed for herself. someone (@rottenindenmark) rewrote the bad art friend article and they tell the story in chronological order, have a bunch of legal documentation, emails and texts that the nyt left out. Dawn seems less crazy bc of it. They’re both still crazy but nyt leaned on making Dawn seem disproportionately obsessed with Sonya but it’s clear from the chronological story that Sonya is just as obsessed with Dawn. I don’t recommend that anyone care this much about strangers but I was itchy for the truth and I’m sure I’m not the only one

on the texts and emails in legal proceedings: my brother works in legal digital forensics and always has to go take ppl’s and company’s hard drives and tech archives in order to use in court. his company has ppl that go thru the tech / digital records and strike irrelevant things. they have to be physically retrieved too. he has informed me of all the things one can see even from a wiped phone. won’t see those if sent via cloud. through this work for the last 15 years he’s been to a lot of celeb and executives homes and has seen some weird shit. /end

They would be much more interesting and credible if they didn’t live in coastal elite cultural centers. They sound remarkably unlike themselves talking NY v LA—myopic, prisoners to a perspective of power, plain and regular. Their take on the nytimes story was far stronger than their last literary take.
