Agree with this analysis! I am trying to reverse my thinking in that regard. Libs and lefties want to transgress sexual taboos? On some level that makes sense but they're placing so many prohibitions as well, and it's not just about the weird sexual puritanism underlying Metoo. For example, eroticizing race in one way or another is considered pretty "problematic", which is ironically one of the reasons that something like raceplay appeals to some people. It has that anti-PC aura. They also tend to implicitly apply distributive justice to sexual desire. It's wrong that some bodies are generally considered more desirable than others and to correct that desires should be spread out evenly. Hence we need to use "conventionally attractive" when talking about hot people, which acknowledges the prospect of change, though I'm not sure how it's supposed to raise anyone's self-esteem to know that perhaps in some other time and place with different beauty standards they would be considered attractive. It also makes people feel guilty about not considering "conventionally unattractive" people desirable. This just seems like a desperate attempt to escape the fact that sexuality is not about fairness, and the point is to learn to live with that fact instead of living in denial of your fear of abandonment. But then again I'm not sexually sophisticated enough to be attracted to Slavoj Zizek's and Louis CK's abject existence, so what would I know about sexuality...
