War Room: Red Scare w/ Steve Bannon

It's super interesting listening back to this now in mid-2023. Bannon sounds pretty pro lock-down at this time in the name of "breaking the back of the virus". Meanwhile, Anna and Dasha push back on the idea of stripping civil liberties in the absence of clear direction and information from the state. Overall, fear was so obviously harnessed as a tool at this time on both sides of the aisle, with even more libertarian, and even nationalists figures falling for the party lines. Interesting to see the skepticism from Anna and Dasha which is now, 3 years later, pretty openly acknowledged sentiment - we handed away our civil liberties without questioning the state's motives.

just listened back to this - really interesting how Steve's populism seems to reflect masculine values (e.g. his military background, the heroic freedom of America) and dasha and anna's is more feminine (e.g. nurturing through healthcare, a desire to protect all human life no matter its creed or colour). getting a bit frEuDiAAN here but maybe we got some parental desires going on idk xoxo

This is a good podcast thank you for doing an interesting and bold piece. I think that Bannon is a bit of a bullshitter and you can tell he's like a bit of a manipulator with the whole "good marxists hate the ccp" bit, like its not wrong but the thing is he's saying it to set up a parable of good behavior. Just what these people do. Honestly he reminds me of my ex who worked for an unnamed senator who was like right wing but also way more aware of the political world than most people. I feel like there's plenty of outrage in the comments here and on twitter from people who didn't listen to the episode. Bannon has a huge platform, his appearance here doesn't legitimize him or establish a platform for him more than he has already established a platform for himself. An interview isn't an endorsement, it's an opportunity to air the shortcomings of the interviewee and to build/install a critique. How else are you going to combat someone politically if you're putting your head in the sand. EDIT: Plus the ladies didn't neg on their principles, they held court.

When Michael Wolff and Errol Morris interviewed Bannon I thought Wow what a captivating and unique, but ultimately troubling character in American history that I can judge with an objective distance But when Redscare interviewed him I could only think Wow obviously they aren't curious and interested in him, but crypto-fascist revealing themselves for male attention by giving him a platform which he obviously doesn't have (Despite being the executive chairman of a news org).
