True, but this assumes that everyone of a given ethnicity/race has inherited the same sort of trauma. I think jewish people who have family directly impacted by the holocaust, for example, have a different claim to intergenerational trauma than those of us whose families were already in the states by the early 20th century. Someone like me could still steal Holocaust survivor valor, if that makes any sense.

part of why transracialism seems fallacious, i think, is that with race there's a question of intergenerational trauma - ethnicity and trauma are inherited, gender is individual. people don't have to lie about their roots or background or even their birth sex by presenting as trans, while someone like krug is necessarily spreading lies about herself, i.e., that she came up in a barrio. so beyond the popular sense of it as morally abject, it's perniciously dishonest

i have only listened to first half, finally approaching the trans debate - my view is straight men describing themselves as women are cross-dressers, they used to describe themselves as cross-dressers. but now they lobby politicians and social workers to say if you do not call them 'women' they will take you to court

To a faction of the left, trans-racialism is viewed as stealing. Embezzling oppression on the cultural capital exchange. Transgenderism is viewed as earning. Making honest and savvy trades on the exchange through your own "hard work" (i.e. struggle). Both are refracted through a fundamentally neoliberal prism; the final and only resource the masses have been left to trade with on the exchange are our own body-mind spaces. But in these left spaces, you'd better adhere to the SEC regulations, without recognizing that the usual power elite minority created this marketplace to keep the class divide firm and obscured.

You cant compare gender dysphoria -and transgenderism- which is a clinical condition studied by psychiatrists, neuroscientists, sociologists etc during decades with "racial dysmorphia" which I dont even think that's a real thing. Even if It was an actual thing, the former requires in most cases to transition for them to ease their dysphoria and doing so is trascendental to their wellbeing.
