Come Get Your Manz

The ladies review Terrence Malick's Days of Heaven (1978) and Dennis Hopper's Out of the Blue (1980) in honor of actress Linda Manz who passed this month. Plus, we recap some RNC highlights.

Comments

Michael Caine does not have an upstairs face.

mortal trash

I would have gone with Here Comes Your Manz but that's just me 👀🐒

Gavin Drake

This was an excellent post, was unable to watch either since you announced them, I am old enough to have seen them back in the day and this pod brought them back into my consciousness beautifully

Ronny Graham

You should watch and review New Town Utopia

When Todd Solondz?

McQueen is a saint

Malick is a genius. The New World and the Tree of Life are a couple of the best movies ever made.

I was thinking about Come and See less than 10 seconds before it was mentioned at the end of the pod. Has it already been the subject of a Movie Night?

Trump University was indeed a thing, but ceased operation after multiple lawsuits, investigations and student complaints.

Stimulants, benzos and despair may not be telegenic, but it's a recipe for living. FWIW Cassavetes was working class and he had amazing weirdo-intellectual immigrant parents. EDIT: Boooo the strongest scene in DoH isn't the locusts it's the bellydancing montage where the Manz talks about the snakehouse. iirc Malick had asked her to describe a bible studies reel she'd recently watched and that led to most or all of the eschatological VO. Also the deus ex machina ending (her friend comes back for her!) is so, so sweet and a burst of emotion.

in awe that linda manz is getting a show. love her. love “out of the blue.” over the moon right now! <3

OK.ru, "Out of the Blue (1980) - Canada". Uploader/Author is CinemaZ. Put those keywords into a Google search. Unfortunately it's only 480p, there's no bluray version. If you're on mobile and it says something about "This is an 18+ group, log in" just reload the page as a desktop site and it should work.

Where did y’all find Out of the Blue?!
