As mixed up as fruit in a Blender...

Skip to the TLDR section if you just want to know what I'm releasing next, and when!

A few weeks ago I posted a poll to top tier Patrons looking for advice. I got some good feedback and thoughts on my direction. This post is the follow up to that, as well as a little behind the scenes info on what I've been working on.

Based on the feedback I got and my own feelings, I decided to move forward to completing the Pastry Project as a full animation, and that's what I've been working on. That project is still in progress, and the Watermelon project seen in my previous trailer is ... or was going to go on the backburner. Until now...

See, the thing is, I've been almost exclusively working in Blender for almost a month. I had to learn a lot, and though Blender is great, the best thing about Blender is that it is open source, and so the places that Blender is not great at...other people have created addons to improve it. That often means learning a new tool, practicing it, implementing it, and adding it to the workflow.

Over the last month, I've spent nearly $400 in purely add-on software products and assets, and I've gotten so much better and more efficient since I started the Watermelon project. As excited as I was about that project, it's just not as great as it could have been even a month later.

[TL:DR]
With that in mind, and knowing I really want to give you all some content, I'll going to release Watermelon Project (name pending) to you all first, likely by tomorrow. As usual, $25 patrons will get early access, $10 patrons will get access a few days later, and quick clips will be available on DeviantArt as well.

I'm going to keep working with Project Pastry - I'm enjoying it, for sure. I spent my entire long weekend (I still have a full time job) just working on fluid simulations and doing test renders of the final scene or two. I hope to release that in early to mid March. I really hope you'll enjoy it when it's ready as well. For now though, I hope you'll enjoy Project Watermelon as well - there are some things about it that are really great I think, but could have been way better, and instead of reworking the entire thing, I'd rather put that time into completely finishing Project Pastry.

Thanks for all your support.

Oh! I meant to ask, how do y'all feel about me doing some WIP videos walking through my process sometimes? I'd probably do a voiceover but use a voice changer or something. Thoughts?

Little by little being the Blender God. It's a great tool, so I think it will release your full creative potential. Great tool + Great artist = Awesome! I love seeing behind the scene in WIP. Seeing artists messing and playing around with their work is always fun. I think there are some good AI voice maker tool if you can't get voice actors. Some are terrible, but some are decent with emotion expression.
