Quick Update
Added 2025-02-22 04:34:40 +0000 UTCHey folks. Just dropping a quick update to let you know why the final chapters weren't up this week. This coming Monday (2/24) is my last day at my job and I've been a bit slammed doing final reports and getting things ready to go for my replacement. It's been mentally exhausting and I haven't had much bandwidth to focus on writing. Starting from the 25th, I'll be out of work, doing side jobs and the like, until I line up a position in China later this year. This isn't a bad thing, I'm actually looking forward to the next several months without steady work. I'll be okay for money as I've got some savings and I live pretty cheap, besides. Most importantly, that break gives me time to work on book 2 with almost no interruptions. The plan for most days will be to wake up, work out, practice guitar, and then work on the book. I have some part-time work here and there, but its minimal. 1-2 hours a few times a week.
As for book 1, there are three chapters remaining. 1 of 3 is finished, I'm about a third of the way through the next, and then the epilogue. As with the release last week, I'm wanting to drop all at the same time, so once I get the last two done (which should be this weekend) and I get them back from the editor, I'll post them all at once. After the book is complete, I'll post another update about the plan going forward and the time frame for book 2, as well as some other exciting news I've got in the works.

And, as of 2/22 @ 11:28pm Korea time, the last official chapter has been sent to the editor. All that remains is the epilogue. Fun fact: For reasons of spiciness, this will be a Patreon-exclusive chapter. At least from Royal Road. They're stricter about spice levels. It will be up on LitErotica, but they're about 45 chapters behind.

2025-02-22 05:32:23 +0000 UTCI've had that conversation several times on the Haremlit discord, but it presents some problems. First being that the novel was outlined following a three-act structure and even if I break it into two novels, there's no where to end it that would feel satisfying. It wasn't written with two mini-climaxes and one big one. Even the fight they have in Besari before they go into the mountains is too small to end a book on. So chopping it up now would either require some very extensive rewrites and alterations to the book as a whole, or I'd leave people with some unsatisfying endings. Another issue is cover art. I envisioned this series as a trilogy and have all three covers already finished. If I split this book into two or three, I'd need more covers and those are expensive as I pay an artist to make those. I'm not good enough to work with AI image generators and then clean them up in photoshop. I'd go from needing three covers to five or six and the cost of that could easily be a thousand dollars or more. So, it's a lot of book. It's wild to me that when I first started writing it I thought it would come in around 150k words.
