Between this story and Hebridean Hame, I guess I understand why the "normal" method of imprinting . without following instructions , can really affect people 's interactions with the vaccine. with CP giving the first examples, with Niko and especially Piper. Usually it doesn't produce as strong an effect for the males involved, but YMMV, there. I think that there are hints of it in some of the other darker stories, but so far, the first encounter with the vaccine is the most dangerous one, with another speed bump with reassignment via the Dead Man Switch and other methods to change partners.
