Cinder Crown

The Cinder Crown is one of several relics born from the ashes of Su’aharaja, the four-winged primordial whose unbridled flame scorched the world and birthed the Great Azalia Desert. When the elemental’s fires finally subsided, its remains were gathered and forged into sacred artifacts by the early Azalians.

If the flaming sword Azalian Accolade was entrusted to the first ruler who united the tribes into an empire, the Cinder Crown was granted to the leader of the Order of the First Flame, an ancient brotherhood of elementalists charged with maintaining Su’aharaja’s eternal seal. Like its sister relic, the bow stands as a symbol of the unity and promise that bound the Azalian tribes together. Yet, unlike the sword’s regal beauty, the Cinder Crown’s rough and unpolished form reflects the austere mastery of its wielders—keepers of primal fire whose ancient arts have safeguarded Azalia since the chaos of the first age.

You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. In addition, attacks made with this bow deal an extra 1d8 fire damage. Fire damage dealt by attacks made with this bow ignores resistance to fire damage, and creatures with immunity to fire damage instead take half damage from that fire.

Ember Flock. As a bonus action, you can spend one or more of your Hit Dice, up to a number equal to your proficiency bonus, to conjure that many Tiny firebirds that orbit you for 10 minutes. The maximum number of firebirds you can have at once equals your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier (minimum of 1). Unused firebirds fade when their duration ends or when you finish a long rest.

You can direct the firebirds in one of the following ways. You can expend up to a number of firebirds equal to your proficiency bonus at a time, and a firebird is expended when used. The save DC for any effect is 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Dexterity modifier.

• Blazing Arrow. When you hit a creature with an attack from this bow, you can expend any number of firebirds to deal an extra 1d8 fire damage per bird expended.

• Cinder Burst. In place of one of your attacks, you can expend at least 2 firebirds to detonate them at a point you can see within 120 feet. Each creature in a 10‑foot‑radius sphere must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 2d6 fire damage  per bird expended on a failed save, or half as much on a success.

• Kindling Touch. As a bonus action, you can expend at least 2 firebirds and choose one or more creatures you can see within 30 feet. Distribute 1d6 hit points of healing per bird expended among the chosen creatures (you decide the split when you expend the birds).

From the Ashes. When you reduce a creature to 0 hit points and it has a challenge rating at least equal to half your proficiency bonus (rounded down), its body is seared to ash and a new firebird rises from the remains and immediately joins your Ember Flock. The number of firebirds you have can’t exceed your normal maximum.
