Animation Updates

Hey guys. Got some updates on the render issues and the animations.

Render Server Updates

After the bad batches that came out from the last renders, Ive taken a look at the server and changed some things to help reduce human error and hopefully kill the corrupted exr file issues Ive been running into.

Firstly I reinstalled Ubuntu as desktop instead of headless. In hindsight, I should have done this to begin with. This machine is manly for running blender and not being able to remote desktop in and actually look at and configure the default blender settings and add-ons in the UI was making it hard to troubleshoot issues.

Ive made an add-on that solve a big problem Ive been having with the flamenco render server tool I use. For some reason, flamenco does not like creating render jobs from blend files on my NAS. The workaround was to copy the files over to my local machine and submit them there. But the add-on I made submits it directly from the NAS with no issues.

Another issue I resolved was with different file path conventions between windows and Linux. My projects reference many files on the NAS and the way the NAS is referenced on windows vs Linux was causing assets to be missing when it hits the render server. Manly the alembic files and other simulated data. I was previously manually changing all these paths before submitting which is prone to human error of course. I have an addon that runs on my Linux server to convert all the paths on startup.

And lastly the corrupted exr issue. I thought I had fixed it by enabling the nfs protocol on my NAS (Better suited for Linux systems). But I found some corrupted files in recent renders yesterday. Today I added a hook to the post render step in blender to check if the EXR was saved correctly. If not it will try saving it three more times before giving up. Not really what I wanted as a solution but its the best I got for now considering I cant find the root of the problem....

All of these combined should help resolve issues and streamline submitting render jobs in the future.

Loona Update

Loona animation is Practically done I'm just waiting on female VA. Yea I know Ive been talking about that for a while now. But its TWITTERS FAULT! They broke the fucking dm notifications with their new message update and I had a VA left on read because I didn't know I had pending dm's 😭. I had already reached out to another va this Monday and ended up with two people for the same role. I dropped the second VA and went with the first one. No work had been completed yet on their end so I don't think it was much of a problem. Regardless. Loona animation should be out soon. Most likley next week.

Umbreon Animation

With the render server updates Ive started re rendering the Sex scene. I think its around half done re rendering all the Eevee variants.

The VR renders will start and likley release after the main animation is released on patreon. VR renders sometimes take more or less time depending on the scene. Well see once it I start working on that. But it could take significantly longer if we are unlucky.

Some new news. Ive reached out to and sfx artist to do the audio for this animation. Sound affects are something I care about a lot. But I really don't find it enjoyable to do....

Ive been thinking about outsourcing his work for a while and Ive decided here that ill finally be doing that. Ive reached out to Spicy Gay Dog and hes down to take the commission 🔥🔥
Really like the work he does and I'm looking forward to seeing how it comes out.

Between working on the server and the Loona animation Ive been idly lighting the intro scenes and starting animation on the next sex scene for the Umbreon.

That's all Ive got for now guys. Sorry that there is no content but last two weeks have been a bit of a shitshow both with the animation work and personal life stuff. But I'm not going to get into that second bit :P
