Patreon Payment Change

Hey all, just to let you know that Patreon is ceasing the payment model we were using (1st of the month), entirely replacing it with the subscription model. This is due to requirements made of them by Apple and is out of our control, however we've decided to make the change immediately to avoid hassle down the line. Their explanations for what's changing on our end have been kinda terrible so I thought I'd explain it here as best as I understand it.

New Patrons
Any new patrons who sign up after this point will be charged each month on the day they signed up. So if you signed up today your payment day would be on the 9th every month.

Also if you're signing up via the Patreon iOS app then, from November onward, you will be charged an extra 30% fee by Apple. This will only apply to new patrons, like before existing patrons will not be affected, but due to this we would recommend anyone signing up to anyone's Patreon (not just our own) do so via the desktop site if at all possible to avoid extra fees.

Existing Patrons
If you're already signed up then nothing will change, you will continue to be charged on the 1st of the month. As far as you are concerned it's business as usual!

If you have any other questions feel free to ask, I shall now return to editing the next CC!

If I upgrade and change membership tier, will that be impacted? If so, assuming cancelling and resubscribing via the browser is best?

So.. in order to grab more money, apple is driving apps and customers off their platform is what I'm reading this as

Heh Apphole gave me a chuckle. Genuinely despise them as a company for always wanting things there way, absolutely incapable of playing with others. Very much appreciate the heads-up!

Arkham Jones

Apple being shitters as usual. Thanks for the head's up, though.

Should be noted if you purchased patreon on an apple device app it also costs more. Use a browser to subscribe

Grimbarian Phil

All the best to both of you.

You would think the ongoing EU lawsuit would deter apphole. I guess they are trying to grab as much money as they can before they a. lose the case, or b. drive away customers.
