That Elephant Graveyard Video on Rogan: Art vs Conspiracy
Added 2025-08-31 22:52:22 +0000 UTC
After receiving many requests, we take a look at The Elephant Graveyard's popular satirical critique of Joe Rogan's comedy career and influence. Presented in a style reminiscent of Adam Curtis's documentaries with a sardonic spin, the video critically dissects Rogan's impact on the comedy scene, making some comparisons with cult-like behaviour. We offer our thoughts on the video and discuss the nature of some of the claims made about broader tech elite conspiracies. The summary: Very entertaining, mostly accurate, but don’t take it all at face value.
Long time listener, first time caller. I think yall treated this way too seriously, even in contrast to your own acknowledgements, and also did a disservice to your audience’s intelligence. This is obviously hyperbolizing the 4-d chess level of intentional planning. I’m confident yall have heard of ‘Project 2025’. Similarly-networked individuals developing and pursuing administrative policy while utilizing mass media strategies to foster uninformed buy-in is hardly conspiracy and much less so conspiratorial ideation. Over-conflating paid subscribers with youtube/reddit commenters is poor form.
This admittedly struck a nerve bc I’m very concerned about the movers and shakers of power in the US and wish yall would have had a more nuanced response rather than lecturing about not taking the internet too seriously.
