STRANGER THINGS Season 4 Episode 8 REACTION (Full)

The Collars don't actually do anything to their powers (it's not like that device in 001s Neck). They just allow Brenner to shock her if she tried to use the powers on him again at which point she wouldn't be able to use her powers anymore. That was Brenners thinking there

That scene with Will in the van somehow (with everything else crazy over the last 4 seasons) has become one of my personal favourites. There is so much unsaid in that exchange between Will and Mike yet (if you payed attention as the audience) you can understand almost all of it. Yes, Will was talking about himself. He used Eleven as a standing for himself. What makes this so sad is that at this moment I think he has given up hope that Mike would ever reciprocate his feelings and he has no more courage to tell him how he feels or even ask him. That is the moment he realises he can help Mike here. He knows exactly how Eleven might be feeling and therefore can give Mike advice by simply projecting his own emotions onto Eleven. So, by talking about his own feelings but switching himself with Eleven, he can show Mike how Eleven truly is feeling and therefore help that their relationship continues (even if it means he will never have the same). He obviously also knows how much Mike means to Eleven because he has been her brother for a year now. Now, what most however DON'T realise, especially on first watch: Will is lying at the beginning of this scene and SPECIFICALLY Mike should actually realise that, only he doesn't because he is too distracted by his own emotions. Will finally has the courage to show Mike his special painting for him. He even carried it to the airport when they first met Mike but then didn't have the courage to give to Mike. What is so special about this painting is that we learn from Elevens Letter to Mike that he worked really hard on it but didn't show it to anyone, not even Eleven. Eleven because of that concluded it might be for a girl Will liked. But now Will gives this painting to the actual intended recipient (Mike) but he can't be honest about why he made it for him (he is scared Mike would realise how he really fells about him) so he tells the lie: "El commissioned it. She told me what to draw" That is obviously not true and based on the Letter Mike got a day before he left for California he could have figured out it wasn't true (if he was not distracted in that moment). Why I go into this much detail is because I still have a feeling, this might be how they continue the storyline in Season 5. It for sure is a plot-point that is not resolved yet. Will's Feelings for Mike will 100% be used in the storyline of Season 5, but I think even this specific storyline with the painting could still be important in season 5 Lastly, we have Jonathan finally realising what is going on with Will. We don't fully know what finally tipped him of: - Because he wasn't around Will much in California because of his own problems. They did seem much less brotherly compared to especially S1 and S2 - Because he was stoned to much - Because he too realised Will lied about the painting being commissioned by Eleven. Compared to El and Mike, we don't know if Jonathan actually knew that Will was painting it alone and didn't want anybody to see it - Simply because he realised how emotional and important this conversation was to Will (unlike Mike who is too consumed by his own thoughts and emotions to realise anything) Well, you can write so much about this one small scene. I for example also absolutely love Noah Schnapp's acting in this scene. You can really feel that he wanted to say what he says to Mike for such a long time, you can feel how Will is hesitant at first, then happy that Mike liked the painting before internally panicking because Mike might find out about his true feelings and making up that lie. And the stare out of the window at the end... I wanted to write all this about this one small scene simply because I have a feeling this (at the very least Will's feelings for Mike) will be VERY IMPORTANT in the final Season.
