So I do believe that originally Stranger Things was supposed to be a limited series, but due to its popularity and how quickly it blew up, Netflix made a deal with the Duffers to continue. The duffers have said in interviews that they knew the ending 5-7 years ago so i do believe that the show very well could of been written backwards at certain points.

During the speech we find out Henry is the big bad Vecna, but somehow the twist still hits. We’ve conquered episodes 4 and 7, now all that’s left is episode 9 to finish the sacred trilogy of absolute bangers.
