STRANGER THINGS Season 4 Episode 2 REACTION (Full)

Comments

not sure if anyone in the comments mentions this, but this episode takes place on Will's birthday and not one person including Joyce addresses it. the name of the show really could be "Poor Will"

I unfortunately can't say everything about the situation with Will yet because I don't want to spoil anything BUT here is what I would say based on everything we know about Will at the time: 1. Will didn't help El because he simply can't. He is very introverted and never picks any confrontations, especially when it is in public (just look at how he reacts when he is "bullied" in S2 with Zombie-Boy and all). The only time we have ever seen him get confrontational in the whole show is in S3 when he gets mad at Mike and Lukas for breaking up their party, but those were his friends. What Will does do (which shows he is still a brother to Eleven) is be there for her AFTER anything that might happen to her. In the first Episode he immediately goes to Eleven after the teacher intervened and tries to comfort her. 2. As for him reaching out to Mike, at the end of the day it is the same thing. We see in S2 that it was almost always Mike who started their conversations and I think that is how Will has internalised their relationship: Mike is the one that is actively seeking out his company. For somebody who isn't an introvert it is sometimes hard to grasp but reaching out to someone, especially if you aren't sure if they even want to talk to you, is really hard. The summer before they moved, Will and Mike weren't that close anymore so I think Will is scared they aren't "best friends" anymore and instead of reaching out and getting prove of that (or annoying Mike), he simply doesn't do anything. Also, I believe someone like Will always needs A REASON to reach out to someone, otherwise it seems pointless/feels like he is only annoying the other person (smalltalk doesn't work). But we don't even know if he knows what Mikes hobbies are at this point. He might have no idea what to talk about with Mike anymore (which is a result of first drifting apart and then moving away). We already see a bit of that in S3. Will has no idea how to talk to his friends anymore until they have a common topic again which he knows they can talk about (the Mind Flayer) I hope at least some of that made sense. It is really hard to talk about Will's point of view without going into any future developments that could be considered Spoilers. I will say, especially from Episode 4 onward I would advise you to keep special attention at Will. I think this show does a wonderful job at slowly revealing Will's storyline with seemingly unimportant interactions (some people even started realising what was going on in this Episode)

Yeah, it was a tough moment! Like Angela fully had it coming, but it was perhaps a little too extreme, and like you said, the consequences went further than El being arrested.

El hitting Angela was what I was interested in seeing your reaction to. I've seen a lot of people immediately say "thank god! She deserved that and I 100% support that" my first thought was "that's assault, you can get arrested for it. If she gets arrested than someone in the government is going to find out she's alive. She put Joyce, Will, Jonathan, Mike and his family in jeopardy" Vecna is really terrifying. you're in for a ride.
