Meet Drax

Upon seeing this 'lizard' as you originally classify him, things get weird and a bit scary. A Bender, Drax appears to be a mentally manipulative spider and you, a novice mage, have fallen into his web. With no training to defend yourself against his mental assault, you're only saving grace in the moment is Remington by your side.
But does his magic terrify or excite you? While Benders are mostly harmless to the magic community, it's easy to see how they might excel in non-magic realms, using beings as puppets for their economic, political, or sexual gain.
Perhaps Drax isn't as evil as your first encounter may have you thinking. Perhaps he's even worse. If so, would you try to change him? Join him? Kill him even?
As you hopefully gain an ability to block Drax's power over you, you can at least take solace that your conversations will be more in your control. If that's what you desire...
