About Dominance/Submission
Added 2023-12-04 02:37:59 +0000 UTCCurrently your choices in certain situations increases your dominance or your submission score, it was my intention that you could begin choosing different options to change your characters personality overtime. However, I have found that choosing a dominant option when you have been submissive up to this point, or vice versa, feels very out of place in the context of the dialogue, and just breaks immersion to some extent. I'm considering removing the dynamically adjustable dominance vs submission scores and just having your characters personality be set by the choice at the start of the game. You would still be able to choose to be neutral, making you a switch and reacting in whatever way your partner at the time would prefer you to react. If I kept the dynamic personality option I'm afraid the only way to make you be able to change your personality would be through repeatable interactions which might just become grindy. Let me know what you think.

Tricky. I guess the dynamic option allows for the MC to be dominant towards one character, while being submissive towards another character. Which does happen, I think... in this sense, maybe it would be better to have the score be tied to each of the other characters, rather than to player personality, or to have it be a combination of both to avoid immersion breaking. However, that would make implementing it more difficult, and especially a combo option might lead to balancing issues and/or bugs. I do think that it was really odd that we were able to react in completely opposite ways in the same playthrough to Lilly tossing the MC around. But perhaps you could also just expect players to make choices that fit their personality, and blame them when they make choices that lead to immersion breaking things :D In the end I voted for the fixed version though, because I know that I will probably never have mixed personalities in my playthroughs, so the dynamic system just adds to the dev workload with no benefit, as far as I am concerned :D

The fixed dynamics do make it easier on you as the developer though. Edit: having your previous submission acknowledged when you try and be assertive once in a while might add back to the immersiveness overall, so regardless of what direct you go, I'd say having it acknowledge previous submission or dominance would go a long way to making it more enjoyable.
