0.5.0 Dev. Check In #4
Added 2025-09-16 20:27:06 +0000 UTCHey there, everyone!
So, first off, exciting news: All of the new planned features and story are implemented and 0.5.0 is officially in playtesting!
This means that the Patreon release is coming soon! If there are no hard-to-fix bugs found, then the Patreon release should be next week! I'll post an update when I'm confident it's good to go.
So, with that established, I can talk about the work that's been done. On the boring side, many bugs and typos have already been fixed thanks to the playtesters.
As for music, we've got more new tracks. This time it's Sarah's theme and a post-battle track for Silver. Thanks, Olivia!
I've overhauled the message box UI and I think it looks much cleaner. It also takes up less space, but still manages to show more text than before:

Most of the rest of the changes are smaller or quality of life related:
Autosaves! Before every battle and at the start of every new day. The daily saves and the battle saves each get their own dedicated autosave slot (slots one and two).
You can now also manually save in the pre-battle menu.
You can now load the last autosave from the game over menu.
A few menus have been cleaned up.
Chris has new hair!
A bunch of new sound effects for maps and cut scenes.
Most of the text in the game is now a slightly smaller font, making text boxes more efficient.
I've reordered the prologue dreams in a way that just makes more sense.
The save menu is overhauled to look a little better.
Painting you nails now changes Luc's name color!
An option to unequip all artifacts from all party members has been added to the desk menu.
General polishing of the UI in a bunch of places.
New sound effect for Luc's bike when you travel between locations.
Ticket stubs have item descriptions now.
A bunch of map shadows added.
Prettier lighting at Evening/Night for Market Street.
So, here we are! The homestretch! The last things to wrap up are any bugs that come up in playtesting and to do the upgrade logic for saves from 0.4.x, which SHOULD then be compatible with 0.5.0. As long as the save was made in the content waiting room for 0.4.x.
As always, thanks for your support, thanks for playing, and thanks for your patience!
