November Patreon Reward - Duality II
Added 2024-11-01 16:00:11 +0000 UTCHello Patreons!
Thank you so much for supporting the channel. As the monthly reward for November, we are delighted to bring you Duality II by Skunkworks, a pack of over 15 puzzles, that riffs on the dual-use idea they explored in Duality - which we were delighted to re-release last month. You may have to scroll to the bottom of this post to find the pdf.
We offer many thanks to Skunkworks for their work in creating and testing these puzzles - we have tested them too and we think they're great! If you can get through this tough test, the last puzzle's solution message will tell you what solution code to submit on the following form: https://tinyurl.com/DualityII
You have to get this in by 4pm UK time on 20th November to be in with the chance of a prize. But enjoy the puzzles, whenever you try them.
Thanks again,
Simon & Mark

2024-11-23 13:24:59 +0000 UTCI'm feeling like I must be completely missing the point of the third puzzle? I have managed to get the parity of the small lines and that's all, I can't see how to progress

2024-11-20 18:05:51 +0000 UTCThank you for this great puzzle pack. We liked that some puzzles were on the more difficult side ;)

2024-11-18 21:27:00 +0000 UTCTo answer myself: digits CAN repeat in cages. 🙈

2024-11-17 19:17:36 +0000 UTCI am struggling with the Duality Jing Yang - I resorted to the example 6x6 and even this is somehow "broken", so I scare that I do not get the rules correctly. In the 6x6 - there are two obvious 3s in the 9 cage, which gives first change of colour on the perimeter and the second is obviously in 10 cage. Went through all possibilities there and nothing sems to work ... :(

2024-11-11 18:26:41 +0000 UTCOmg my brain must be on holiday. I've got it now.

2024-11-10 03:23:12 +0000 UTCSimilarly, if r3c7 is 1 and r3c6 is 5, then r3c8/r3c9 would sum to 15. r2c8/r1c9 would have a separate sum, determined by r3c7 and r4c6.

2024-11-09 23:13:14 +0000 UTCEach arrow applies the rule(s) separately. So if r3c7 were a 1, then r2c8/r1c9 would be in one region, and r3c8/r3c9 would be in one region. But r2c8/r1c9 would not necessarily share their region with r3c8/r3c9.

2024-11-09 23:11:43 +0000 UTCActually I'm still not sure I understand the rules
DiceCupMerlin
2024-11-09 23:01:57 +0000 UTCI'm clearly misunderstanding something on chaotica. R3c2 and R3c7 are impossible to fill by the way I'm understanding it. If there are 2 arrows do we sum all the digits both arrows point to? Now I've typed this I assume it must be that.

2024-11-09 22:57:58 +0000 UTCThanks, for some reason my dumb brain wanted to associate them specifically to the cells that touched the edges of the grid. Lol

2024-11-09 15:07:59 +0000 UTCAll 81 squares are grid cells. For puzzle 14, if there is no grid cell on the opposite direction of the arrow (row 9 for example), then the little killer doesn't apply for those cells containing an arrow. Hope this is clear.

2024-11-06 19:30:50 +0000 UTCCan anybody explain what constitutes as a grid cell?
Tony Bowman
2024-11-06 16:30:34 +0000 UTCThanks for the clarification on circles being part of the orange line.

2024-11-05 04:50:16 +0000 UTCCan someone show an example of a puzzle with this ruleset? My head is jumbled. Edit: I figured it out! I made an error with my region logic, and I mistook it for misunderstanding the ruleset. Tough puzzles. I really enjoyed them.
Darryl Gilbert
2024-11-04 01:52:58 +0000 UTCIt refers to the opposite of the direction the arrow points.

2024-11-03 17:33:18 +0000 UTCWhat a reward !! Absolutely wonderful. I enjoyed each and every puzzle in the pack. Simply remarkable work. Hats off to Skunkworks and thank you CTC for giving us the opportunity to solve this pack. I hope there will be a 'Duality III' in a near future. The 'Chaotica' puzzle is a masterpiece and deserves to be in a Greatest Hits book, no doubt about that.
Mario
2024-11-03 15:51:52 +0000 UTCFor puzzle 14, "Chaotica," the rules mention arrow cells that have cells "behind" them. Which direction does this refer to? Is it to the left? Below? The direction opposite the arrow?

2024-11-02 22:18:14 +0000 UTCOnly made it through the first 4 puzzles but I already love the pack a lot, such great flows!! 😍

2024-11-02 11:56:48 +0000 UTCA clarification: Skunkworks have asked us to make clear that for Puzzle 8, Orange Mound, the circles are indeed part of the lines and r1c4 is double counted on its line as it has 2 circles.
