December Reward - The Wind in the Willows

Comments

What a beautiful hunt! It was a joy to solve.

Ricky

What Time Zone is the 4pm? πŸ˜‚

Chrissi Berndt

Trace a line along the path, don't just mark the cells. Its not saying "The cells don't touch them selves". Its saying "The path has a start and an end". Personally, I feel like it would have been better if they just labeled the start and end of the path. Its not much of a discovery to find the end, and it makes the rules a bit more obtuse.

In The Further Adventures of Toad, I have a completed solution that the solution checker confirms is correct, but my path (if viewed as a one cell wide path) DOES contain a loop. The instructions say the path will not form a loop. I'm confused.

Richard Smith

My only issue with drawing a line instead of colouring the cells is that the instructions say the cage must be completely filled before leaving it. Have you filled the cage by drawing a line through it? I came to the comments after completing that one though, since it does seem like I've created a loop, and the instructions explicitly say I must not form a loop.

Richard Smith

I just solved that one, and I treated it as if the path had to fill the cage it started in.

Richard Smith

Enter an incorrect digit, and then replace the correct one. You should get the screen with the hint again.

I'm having an issue with getting the solution number from Dulce Domum. When I click the checkmark it just shows "You solved the puzzle. The solution is correct." Is anyone else experiencing this or know how to fix it? Or could just use the number or the instructions for finding the right number

Brandon Pepa

I think it's simpler than that. The corners of the cages show the possible sums, from 1 to 24. Only 12 of them are the actual sums of those cages. Once you know which sums are correct i.e. you have solved the previous 12 puzzles, you know which cages are correct.

Joel Wilder

Completely stuck with advent calendar. Have done all the other puzzles, and got 12 answers. I assume that if say the cage numbered 1 was one of the genuine ones, then it could have a sum of any of the previous puzzles, we have to work out which.

when you trigger result checking by clicking the checkmark, the dialog should show again.

I am sure it was asked before, but I can't find it. Can I retrigger the winning dialog in SudokuPad (without solving the whole thing again) so that I can reread the instructions? Some of my written numbers for the final puzzle are a little uncertain and some are the same.

Dmitri Shabes

For "The Further Adventures of Toad" do the rules mean that the cage overlapping r9c1 is 100% path? It starts in r9c1, so it doesn't "enter" that cage. Can the path ignore r8c1 and go from r9c1 to r9c2?

Robert Gendron

Thank you for the great hunt! Had a ton of fun solving the sudokus and joining mole, rat, badger, and toad on their journeys.

My advice would be to focus on the bottom three rows if you are still having trouble and penciling in all of the possibilities. Use the clues in conjunction with each other and the possibilities begin to be quite constrictive.

I'm having some trouble with Toad's Adventure. I got the first few numbers in row 9 but I can't seem to figure out where to look next. Its one of the last ones I need to do lol. Any hints would be appreciated β™‘

I had a great deal of difficulty with chapter 10 - the further adventures. I’ve completed it now, and it was actually a fairly easy puzzle. Here’s some advice for anyone who might be encountering the same issue. The difficulty I had was because I shaded the path green. Don’t shade it! Instead, use the thin pen tool to mark the path. When you shade it, it makes it look like you can’t go to a cell that is touching another path cell, because it looks like it is looping. But if you use the pen tool, it makes it so much easier to visualise.
