May Monthly Reward - The Jewels of Osiris

As a thank you, here is our May monthly reward - an extraordinary story, combined with a Sudoku and Treasure Hunt. The author is DiMono, who we know as a fine and gifted sudoku constructor. We can now experience DiMono's writing too!
You get to read Act 1, but must then find passwords to get into Act 2, and subsequently Act 3 and the Epilogue.
Instructions for submission are in an Overview document (in the Zip folder), which explains the context, the requirements to proceed from stage to stage, and the submission details to enter for the prize, but (briefly) you have to send us the required solution text along with your own creative suggestion by 4pm on the 20th of May (UK time). Send your email to crackingthecryptic@gmail.com. The prize will be awarded after the top ten entries (per Simon & Mark) have been sent to DiMono to choose the winner.
As the Zip folder of files supplied to usby DiMono contains Act 1 as a Word document, we have also provided it here as a pdf. If you have trouble proceeding in the hunt, please be aware that there will probably be discussions on the patreon-chat channel on the Discord serve, on which Patreons are entitled to take part.

OMG this Act 2 set of puzzles is so hard! It's day 5 for me and I have all the puzzles open, and a spreadsheet where I'm keeping track of A cannot be E which cannot be the same as M, etc. (not real constraints!) I feel like I'm spending forever on What If black holes of pursuit only to Undo. Undo. Undo. Undo ad nauseum. I haven't actually given up yet though. It's certainly a good challenge, I'll say that. Cheers for the fabulous effort at creating it.

2023-05-06 17:47:08 +0000 UTCThe Map is where I've spent most of my time, and where the puzzle keeps breaking. This latest and last attempt was getting a number on a letter cell in another puzzle and having that breaking my 123 triples in The Map.

2023-05-04 23:15:07 +0000 UTCOh my. I guess I went all wrong at it and got it right in the second try anyway. After solving act 1 I noticed that the entire alphabet was contained in the puzzle, each letter exactly once. So I thought about a word that might fit the theme and in the second attempt I got it right. Later that day I found out that there was this riddle that you could have solved to get to the word. Totally missed that.
