March Monthly Reward: Evening Attractions
Added 2024-03-01 16:00:13 +0000 UTCHi Patreons!
Thank you so much for supporting our channel - we are very grateful for your encouragement. And we are delighted to bring you here the March monthly reward - a sudoku pack called Evening Attractions.
There are seven puzzles in the pdf, which includes links to play them in our software - please be aware that there is a negative constraint in each puzzle, meaning that where certain markings are NOT given, it is impossible for such cells to obey the special rule for each puzzle.
You don't have to solve these in the evening, but remember that variant sudoku always makes an excellent alternative to dinner, the movies, the theatre, bowling or star-gazing!
If you want to enter the competition, get your 27-digit entry sent in on the Google form linked in the pack by 4pm UK time on March 20th. The form is here: http://tinyurl.com/yc5nybsm
Good luck, and enjoy!

Angela, the side instructions (on the left) require the circles to be counted, so that restricted how many could be included in the puzzle. The writer not realizing that would influence readers' interpretation of all possible circles tells us how sloppily this puzzle was handled, to say nothing of all the corrections that already were emailed to Patrons, or the multiple confused solvers in the comments on the two pages. (Also see my comments on the other page.)

2024-03-06 11:54:52 +0000 UTCI agree that adding "entire" would make that part of the directions more complete. I think your change to what a circle means is also clearer but the instructions as they stand still feel complete to me. "All digits NOT in circles must NOT be the same as the number of cells seen" is implied by "all possible circles are given. So the given uncircled 2 could not have been circled, therefore it must see either more or fewer of its color -- though not actually the latter for that particular cell given the rule about a single orthogonally connected region. But the sentiment is still true for other digits that are not circled.
