January Patreon Reward - All the Fun of the Fair
Added 2024-01-01 16:00:11 +0000 UTCThank you for sponsoring the channel! As January's monthly reward, we are delighted to bring you All the Fun of the Fair, a series of 5 fairground-themed sudokus.
The first four puzzles are independent, stand-alone sudoku puzzles, in which the first two are meant to be a bit easier than the last two, and the fifth puzzle requires information from the first four to be completed (but is then not at all difficult).
To be in with the chance of a prize, send the digits along the line from A to B on the Google form linked on the last page of the document by 4pm UK time on January 20th 2024. At some point we will produce a Scroll of Honour showing all the correct solvers' names.
Thanks again for supporting the channel! And a very happy New Year to you all!
Simon & Mark
PS If you want to play Dodgems & Hall of Mirrors in Sudokupad, and be able to annotate the frame of the puzzles, here are the links: http://tinyurl.com/2beepw9p and http://tinyurl.com/mwexxcf3

I'm still waiting to start this month's puzzles! I've had eye surgery and it's still hard to use my eyes for more than a few minutes.

2024-01-07 10:00:02 +0000 UTCOh dear! I've never had a go at the Patreon puzzles before, and I'm looking at Dodgems in some bewilderment 🥹

2024-01-01 23:17:00 +0000 UTCSorry if I'm being daft, but for dodgems, I must be mis-reading the rules... how can we have 1 populated in r1, c1, r9 or c9? If 1 is in any of those places, then the number outside the grid for that row/column must be 1, but it is impossible to sum to 1 in a sandwich... Would someone be kind enough to clarify please?

2024-01-01 22:59:15 +0000 UTCAbout Hall of Mirrors: just solved it, and yes, you understood the rules correctly. As for the Tunnel of Love, I came to a conclusion that mirrored shapes are allowed, but simply rotating the shape is not. Cause I have no solution if you can't have a mirrored shape, and 2 solution if just rotating the same shape is allowed as well as mirroring it. And it would be strange to allow rotating, but not mirroring. But that's only my thoughts on this, I'm not sure about that coclusion.

2024-01-01 21:09:10 +0000 UTCTunnel of Love: Are shapes allowed to be mirror images if rotated? Or have I gone wrong in working out the five pentominoes? Hall of Mirrors: Am I understanding the rules? For example, the arrow at the bottom of the puzzle is the sum of r7c5 r8c5 r9c5?

2024-01-01 20:41:31 +0000 UTCI prefer that the links not be shared. I don't think it appropriate for my email and other comments that I may have given be shared with the whole Patreon community.

2024-01-01 19:20:12 +0000 UTCSpot on. Doesn't really matter though as it doesn't hold up the end game

2024-01-01 18:45:55 +0000 UTCIn puzzle 2 I kinda "solved" it, software says the solution is correct, but I'm unable to make pentominos, I have either 2 yellow pentominos with the same set of digits, or a pentomino with a similar shape as the blue one.

2024-01-01 18:34:12 +0000 UTCPlease also give us access to the table of results automatically compiled by Google Form. That is much easier to browse than a time-consuming Scroll of Honour hidden at the end of an unknown video. This is also true for the previous two puzzle hunts. I think you just need to give us the links.
