Two bonus puzzles

As mentioned in tonight's video, there was a sudoku setting Battle Royale on Discord recently in which Tyrgannus, clover and Sam Cappleman-Lynes went toe-to-toe to see who could create the best sudoku in an hour (!) The sudoku type was selected by jovi_al and it was judged (blind) by TotallyNormalCat.

Tyrgannus' winning puzzle features in the video but, at Sam's suggestion, we're delighted to share with you the other two sudokus.  Do please comment and let the authors know what you think of their efforts - and especially how incredible it is that these were each created in a mere 57 minutes!!

Sam's puzzle:

Rules:

Normal Sudoku rules apply. In cages, digits must sum to the small clue in the top left corner of the cage.  Digits must not repeat within a cage.  Along thermometers, digits must increase from the bulb end.

Hi - just joined Patreon - trying the Clover bonus puzzle here but not seeing the way through. Obviously it is easy (!) but are there any hints anywhere?? Can't find anything on Discord ...

Think the key is the 28 cage and the thermo to the right.

These puzzles were great. Cant wait see more setter royales soon.

I had a go at Clover's one and it's absolutely brilliant!

f-puzzles.com is very helpful setting software, if that's what you need. The mental tools I am also extremely jealous of. :D

In.. an ... hour? wow. just wow. I want the setting tools they have, and of course the experience and ingenuity that lets one set like that.

I liked them both. Sams was pretty tough though, but I'm not certain why as there is a clear path. Whenever I got stumped, I would laugh once I saw the next break.

Only done clover’s so far - just perfect for me. Thank you clover x

Clover's puzzle was nice and straightforward, but none the less enjoyable for it, finished in under 15 minutes. Sam's puzzle was definitely more of a challenge ... after spending a long time unable to find a logical way through, I ended up bifurcating on r2c5 to resolve it ... in total it took me more than an hour longer than Clover's, so I hope someone will do a solution video so I can see what I missed!

Clover's was a fairly quick puzzle. Sam's puzzle I had to bifurcate a lot to get to the midgame of the puzzle, but from the midgame to the lategame there was some nice logic going on. I'd be really interested in seeing a video on how to logically break into Sam's puzzle.

Clover's was fairly straightforward, but a lot of fun. Sam's was a bit more complicated, and I ultimately did some bifurcating to finish, so likely missed a key insight. Still good to have a go at.
