“And what about this one?” Farah hands me a photo, an eager interest shimmering in her eyes.
The glossy memories gleam in the early morning sunlight as they are spread in a patchwork carpet of the past across my bed.
Farah lays amongst them, on her front, legs twirling in the air behind her as she rifles through the photos. I lean against the headboard, reeling off the stories of the images as she passes them to me.
Delving into the depths of my past isn’t what I planned on doing this morning, but she was so keen to learn more about me—the times she hasn’t been around—and she figured this was the best way.
I take the photo, being sure to slide my fingers over hers as I do so. It’s too much of a temptation to resist touching her whenever I can get the chance.
And she certainly doesn’t seem to mind as she reaches a little bit closer each time to give me the opportunity to do it.
“This is the first time me and Tina saw a movie together,” I explain. Tina smiles out of the photograph, an arm slung around my shoulders to drag me in close as I just look confused.
Farah spreads her hand over the images like a tarot reader choosing a fate. “Oh, this one. What’s this one?”
I groan as I take the paper. “That’s the time I shrunk my uniform in the wash and didn’t realise until I tried to put it on. Tina insisted on taking a photo of that too.” I flick the photo onto the pile, resting my head back against the wall. “Not really a moment I want to remember.”
“Why not?” she asks, rolling onto her side to look at me fully.
“Because I get enough embarrassment remembering those times without having to see them,” I reply.
She pushes herself onto her knees, pressing my legs apart so that she can scoot between them and kneel before me. “But your memories are what make the world unique to you.”
I reach out and brush my thumb down her cheek. “Not all memories are ones I want.”
“I suppose that’s fair.” She glances down, rubbing at her chin. “Do you at least have enough good memories of me to help?”
A smile catches my expression, and I slide my hand around to the back of her neck, urging her closer.
She happily complies.
Our lips meet in a soft bloom of warmth that chases away the chill of the moments I’d rather forget. She clasps my middle, shuffling as close as she can between my spread legs, her kiss moving from my mouth to my cheek and slowly down to my neck.
I let out a gentle breath as I tilt my head back, my eyes closing to enjoy the touch.
“Is this a better memory to make?” she murmurs against my skin.
I open my eyes, finding her amber ones gazing into mine, sparkling like a thousand suns. “A much, much better memory. But then, they’re all good with you.”
“Eh, I’m not sure that’s true,” she replies, flopping back onto her knees. “A lot of our memories so far involve you being chased down by supernaturals.”
“But we’ve still made those memories together,” I joke.
She chuckles, catching my hand and bringing it up to kiss my palm. “I wish I had photos I could show you of my childhood. You’ve shared a lot of your life today, and I’ve got nothing to show you back.”
“You’re here, Farah, with me. That is more than enough,” I state, the words filled with honesty.
Something about my statement seems to catch her and, in a rare show, tears glimmer at her eyes.
I swipe them away with my thumb. “Are you alright?”
“Yeah,” she stammers, flopping down to lay her back against my chest, her head resting on my shoulder. “But how about we start capturing our memories too? At some point, I might start overtaking the amount you have of Tina.”
I blow out a breath. “Good luck. She loves a photo opportunity.”
We both laugh together. Farah then pulls out her phone, lining it up so that we’re both in frame. I smoosh her face between my hands and kiss her cheek just as the photo goes off.
When it’s taken, she looks at it, biting at her lip when it wobbles.
“It’s perfect, babe,” she stutters as emotion makes her voice hitch.
I draw her into an embrace. “That’s because we’re perfect together.”
Outside the window, the Spring morning spreads across the landscape. It kisses softly at the trees, the clouds, and the spill of forget-me-not flowers blooming in the flowerbox. The sun’s warmth covers us in a blanket of light, chasing away the shadows of lingering memories, creating space for some of the best ones.
Together.

2025-04-19 00:48:42 +0000 UTCThis is definitely my new favorite F scenario, my heart is so warm and soft and happy. My favorite before this was that one where they stay in a BnB together to eavesdrop on Redfield!
