What A Cartoon Movie! - The Lego Movie

IS everything awesome? Well, it is on the What A Cartoon Movie podcast, because this month we're covering The Lego Movie! While this animated creation should have been the most cynical entertainment product in existence, its combination of snappy writing, impressive animation, and surprising cameos make it more than just another lousy toy-based waste of time. So sit back, make sure all your bricks are interlocked, and get ready to safely cap your Kragle as we explore this very fun film.
If you found the history segment to be kind of rambling, don't worry, they do get into Woody Allen and Jeffrey Epstein's dinner dates right after the break.

Hi, folks. Really enjoying the LEGO games chat, especially the kind words about Dimensions (yes, we are all obsessed nerds).
To clarify a couple of points, the straight-to-video "LEGO Batman: The Movie" was based on the story of the LEGO Batman 2 videogame. It was essentially made in engine using the game assets but rendered at a higher level.
As for The LEGO Movie, the directors paid visits to our Tt Games office though I never met them directly. Our boss at the time, Jon Burton, is listed as a producer of the film but I don't know what his contributions were.
When I heard the movie was being made, I had no idea it would be such a success but I absolutely loved it and it's still a favourite of mine to this day.
Thanks for the great pod. Looking forward to hearing the rest. π Everything may be awesome, but you guys are even better!

Lord and Millerβs next directorial work is Project Hail Mary and that comes out in March 2026
Itβs based on the book from the guy that wrote The Martian so it seems outside their wheelhouse
