2020-10-24 03:18:33 +0000 UTCI commented before, but this episode has been haunting my soul on a theological level, as somebody initially raised CofE Christian who went rapidly atheist/agnostic from their preteens and then became severely disabled in their mid-20s, it just opened a festering wound of cosmic and existential betrayal that I didn't know I had because I don't believe in a god really, but I still feel that betrayal? And also not just for me: with the coronavirus raging, we know there are people who are trusting that their faith and their god will protect them: they don't need no masks! And yet we also know those people are getting sick and a number of them dying or potentially becoming long-term disabled. I've seen posts comparing social media of individuals going from 'fake news, I'm not scared, going out not wearing a mask' to 'man, this coronavirus makes it hard to breathe'. And I know there have been some who then say 'oh I learned my lesson', but the presumption then is that the story continues with their new information, having learned a lesson. But the fact is there will be so many Quentyn "oh" moments happening as people realise their death is imminent, regardless of what faith they have or lessons they have learned about their behaviour. I don't share their faith, but that feeling of having been forsaken in your faith and beliefs... it hurts all the more. So... thanks for that?

2020-07-14 02:44:57 +0000 UTCSeriously. As an English post-grad I was thinking ‘this is 1st class honours quality work’. It is so.... complete to have a man of faith speaking to Damphair’s long night of the soul *and* Emmett’s depth of knowledge about drugs, counterculture, leftist politics and literature. It is a joy to hear a Socratic analysis of this embarrassingly rich chapter. The excellent standard of this show has reached new heights.

2020-07-01 04:56:14 +0000 UTCThis might not be the right place for a discussion (but I'm not on twitter), but they did mention the Torgon Latecomer thing. I understand why the likes of Asha are discussing it, but how much can it possibly matter in relation to Euron? He doesn't care about the Iron Islands, he's surely not going to be particularly affected by a legal technicality over its throne when he has all this major blood magic world-conquering going on. All I can think is that it reflects how the Islands will move on after he's defeated by greater powers and the dust settles. Perhaps it will be used to influence Stannis re Theon more than anything for Euron.
