I'm not so sure the Great John's declaration was spontaneous. Robb met with the keepers of the Old Gods before meeting with all the Lords and the three Lords who first declared Robb King in the North/of Winter were all keepers of the Old Gods. That meeting may have been an opportunity to orchestrate the kinging. Is there insight later in the series as to whether or not it was spontaneous?

I was really looking forward to this one (because of the gotdamn strength of the chapter) I loved the analysis of Umber’s politicking and Catelyn’s viewpoint on the declaration. It was such a pleasure to finally hear your analysis of the Battle of the Camps (I really appreciate that you held off on analysing the battle until this chapter so we could fully understand the logistics and it’s import on the Riverland Houses’ support for King Robb)
