He forgot a lot of things but he only needed to give his own manga a read to see that Goku in z was almost exactly the same in manga and anime. The only difference were some speeches and lines. Goku in the manga allowed Vegeta to live so he could fight him again... Same in the anime. In the manga Goku was not "excited" in the traditional sense when fighting Frieza, he was angry and was fighting on behalf of the namekians and Vegeta at the start and then with fury because of Krillin. When Goku fought Cell he wanted to end him. He even implored Gohan to finish the job multiple times. Against buu it was a mixture of having a good fight and saving the planet. If Toriyama wanted to make Goku not a necessarily good guy then he simply failed at that... Goku has been a good guy in manga and anime too. Goku in super is the same as always, a good guy who wants to fight... But Toriyama decided to make him extra stupid and that is just a mistake on his part and nothing more.

So once Dragon Ball got animated, at any rate, Iāve always been dissatisfied with the ārighteous heroā-type portrayal they gave him. I guess I couldnāt quite get them to grasp the elements of āpoisonā that slip in and out of sight among the shadows. At any rate, I wanted him to have the sense of being that rare guy who seeks only āto become stronger than beforeā, so much so that it feels like āthereās no one as pure as this personā. And while he does end up saving everyone as a result of that, he himself at least has a very pure sincerity about āwanting to become strongerā. What I wanted to depict the most was the sense that he might not be a good guy at all, although he does do good things as a result.ā So itās not Super that misunderstood Goku, itās the Z anime that did. Thatās why Goku giving a senzu to Cell to pummel his son harder and force the fight to continue felt out of character in Z, because it was one of the cases where the anime didnāt try to sugarcoat the direction Toriyama wanted for the character. Or how Goku knew he could kill Buu but purposely didnāt, endangering everyone. Or, orā¦

Hit however, is my favorite thing to come out of it. Itās dope watching you both watch it though. Been binge watching all your reactions for almost two months now. Glad I subscribed. Always nice hearing my favorite Prince of all saiyins get his respect.
