Another Route...? - 8/17/25

Ok! So, this is something I get asked quite a bit. "Can we get a route of X? How about an alternate route with Y and Z? Barry route? Atlas route?? ERIC route!?"

To all of those, I've had generally the same response. Adding them into the game as a normal route would not work for "reasons." Big apologies to all y'all fans of Sid and Aquilo and Toma, but while I could certainly write a shorter, more abstract "route" for those characters, they aren't really candidates for "real" routes.

The reason I bring this up, however, is because I have finally decided to create a whole new route. That's right- a full, major route. Kind of.

This foxy old fella's name is Rodey! If you've been around the discord of late, you're probably well aware of how fond I am of this fella. Without getting too hard into his details, he's an old fox with a battered old body who's got a real fondness for over-the-top, dramatic stories.

Now, you may be wondering: "But Mr. Sihai, what makes him so different? Why would this random old man get a route before literally anyone else?"

For one, he kind of is, but also kind of isn't. There's some unique criteria that's required for a character to get a proper route of their own. This criteria applies to Jehu, Paul, Alan, Shen, and Jorge. This criteria... does not apply to Rodey. In fact, the only reason I decided on his route was because he's so far removed from the nebulous "criteria" that I can't quite share. He's not relevant to anyone else's story, and is only minorly going to show up in Alan's new route as it is.

As such, Rodey isn't going to be joining the primary boys (jehu, shen, paul, alan, jorge) in any sort of promotional material. He's not really "one of the boys" in the same sense that the others are. He also won't be "pickable" at the start of the game- you'll have to stumble on his route in a more natural manner.

Don't get me wrong- there's something I can do with Rodey's route here that I can only do with Rodey. Saying he's "irrelevant" or "just for fun" is blatantly false. His route isn't going to be quite as traditional or as in-line with the rest of the routes, nor is his route going to be required for the True Path™, but that's the reason why I feel it's important.

This old man is getting his own weird not-so-little route! Please look forward to it!
